I am looking for a great phone for texting and that has a good, usable calender. Any suggestions? Thanks 😉

Look at the Env2 it has your full QWERTY keypad, smaller then the original env. Especially for texting...if you want to take it up a notch go to the voyager, has a lot of extras that most phones do not have! let us know how it goes!

I am trying to decide if I want to go with a Blackberry pearl. Not that I really NEED one, but just wondering if the calender would be more useful than the ones on other phones.

Please also keep in mind with the Blackberry that you require a data plan. The data plans start at $24.99 (10 MB allowance), email and web for BB of $29.99 (unlimited with no Blackberry Enterprise Server email [work email]) and $44.99 unlimited data with Blackberry Enterprise Server email.

If you only want to text I wouldn't recommend the BB. I love em but not if that's the only thing you're going to use it for, especially with the required data plan.

Definately check out the ENV2. Why not go into the store and play around with the phones to see what you may like.

I'm in the same boat as you.. Thinking about upgrading from the Samsung U740.. I feel like I'm stucking getting a enV2 or Voyager if I want qwerty, and not a smart phone. Maybe I should just get used to T9.

Let us know what you get

dont be afraid to look at a smart phone. They can be intimidating at first, but once you use one you will soon see why so many people are switching over to them.

I think that people are not as intimidated by the smarthphones....they just don't want to pay the extra 29.99$ a month for the data plan....at least I know that is in the boat I am in right now.....especially since I pay out the whazoo for high speed cable modem at home and I really only get a few personal emails a day...that could totally wait until I get around to it....so adding the 30$ extra in order to be able to have qwerty is probably a bit much. But I tried the ENV2 and found the reception or "ability to get signal or hold a call" horrible! So it's either the BB Curve or Motorola Adventure....again back to the dilemma..... 🙄

Yeah I don't want to pay extra for a data plan is one thing.

I went and looked at the Voyager and the enV2 today, but didn't really like the size of the keyboard, I'm used to the Alias I guess.

yeah, but the only phones you need a data plan are blackberries.

All the other phones are optional. And you can still use the 24.99 10mb data plan. And if you work has a discount, typically you get 20% data features. So now your down to 20 bucks.

Hell, vcast is $15!!

Wow 20% would be nice!

Through my job I only get a 7% discount on my plan. Which I'm on a 700min Select Family Share /99.99$... and it's only $90.. which is more than 7%.. not sure why. My bill is still over $100 each month after taxes and tec insurance on one of the phones.

all phones are capable of texting and all phones have a calander. its up to you to decide what you want.

if you want a phone with a full Qwerty I have the enV2 and love it. also see the Voyager, Alias, Glyde, and Blitz. plus all the smartphones like the palm centro, moto q9c, blackberry curve. etc.

keep in mind only the blackberrys require data. a moto q9c for example does not.

In reading all the replies, no one really spent much time on the calendar aspects of the phones.

First, if you need to sync with a computer and don't want to invest more time and money than on the phone, you'll be using some sort of PDA/Smartphone. All phones have a calendar these days, but out of the box synchronization with a computer places you in the smartphone world.

If you don't need to sync with a computer, the second thing you need to know is how much of you life will be scheduled on the phone. Most phones won't schedule beyond 365 days. Most phones will allow you only a certain amount of internal memory space for your appointments. I've seen people who schedule every aspect of their lives max out a regular phone pretty qui...
