I LOVE VZW!! (kinda long story)

I would never have considered myself a "fanboy" (or fangirl...) for any carrier, because I know that they all have their pros and cons and it's all about what works for you where you're at. However. I just found out something ridiculously awesome about VZW that I did not know before, and that I don't think any other carrier is doing.

So, I called 611 from my enV2 to ask about an ESN I got off eBay to make sure that the Pearl I wanted to buy from there was clean. (see, I knew that I just got my enV2 in April and am not even close to an upgrade, and while I was fine with paying for it, I just didn't have $400 right now, so I thought I'd try eBay). The lady I talked to was extremely sweet and asked why I wanted to check the esn. I told her w...

unless i am reading something wrong here...the rep you spoke to doesn't seem to know that they are talking about.

why should someone who doesn't have insurance be given the "new contract" price of the phone, when you were already in contract since April.

good job though.

It's that policy that can be misread on Replacement of Lost/Stolen/Damaged phones.

I.E. if they don't have insurance and not eligible to update, sell them a phone at 1 yr pricing. Unfortunately... you have to meet certain qualification. Months of service, calling plan. I think she just got lucky which is good for....

yeah...it wasn't a new cust pricing or anything like that...maybe 1 year pricing? Not sure. I know that we have a really expensive plan (the 1400 premium plan) and my fiance has had VZW for awhile, even though my line is fairly new (only about 6 months old). Anyway...she had to talk to her Sup, so it wasn't something she was able to do willy-nilly. Maybe it was because I got the BB data plan, which i know is what reps get paid for. Either way, it was awesome! 😁

This reminds me of a call I had about 2 weeks ago. I've never had to call customer service for anything big, but I wonder how far I could go with it..

I received a call from this woman. She was telling me how her daughter had had many problems with her LG Venus. She absolutely hated it. I offered to connect her to tech for advanced troubleshooting and possible fru exchange. Since she had been a customer since '02, she had received frus with her previous devices and knew how it all went down.

Well, she declined to be transfered to tech support and troubleshoot. She instead asked me to speak with a supervisor to see if we could sell her the Blackberry Pearl at the 2 year contract pricing.

I called a sup over, told him the situation an...

The policy people are referring to is the Lost/Stolen/Damaged replacement option for people without insurance.

The individual can receive a phone at the 1yr contract price, complete with all applicable rebates, in the event that their phone is unusable and/or "missing". This is something that is approved by manager and only available once every 12 months. It does NOT extend your contract; however, your upgrade and/or New Every Two date will be pushed out for 2 yrs from the date you do the upgrade and you will not be eligible for this exception again.
