When will Verizon Update their Smartphones?
I have been waiting and waiting for Verizon to update their PDA/Smartphone lines for some time now. Well, actually since my account became eligible for new every 2.
I currently have a Treo 700w with WinMobile 5, which has been good but not good enough for me to stay with Palm products. Freeze ups and resets, unable to sync with my laptop, are just 2 issues I believe are basic and should not be a problem for any phone.
Software and such aside, when will Verizon update their offering?
(note: i am not a blackberry fan)

Good list (i saw this post earlier, but wasnt in the mood to do the homework which this OP obviously didnt do).
You could also add a couple of soon to be released devices like the HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro. And the Treo Pro should show up sometime in 2009.

Gee thanks for the backhand. I have done my homework and I don't care for their offering. If you say go to another carrier, that is not an option for me because of my company's contract and policy.
None of the Verizon offerings of smartphones are to my liking except one which is older and has quality issues. It has been drastically reduced in price, which means it has significantly slowed in sales from the alternatives recently introduced. Extrapolate this and you have some very strong reasons to discontinue the model and move on.

I feel ya, but there just isnt a ton in the pipeline for WM phones.
the only ones I can think of would be:
Touch Diamond
Touch Pro
Treo 800w or maybe Treo Pro
Blackberry Storm (i know its not WM, buts its a pretty hotly anticipated smartphone)
I dont know if you will see any of these in 2008, but Im hoping that atleast the diamond comes out in the 4th quarter.

If you want a WinMobile smartphone, the best one they have to date is the Samsung i760. I went through all the others and this one is by far the best and most reliable. Its only real flaw is the Send and End buttons. But you get use to it after a week and know how ot avoid hitting the wrong one. Otherwise it the most versatile, trustworthy and easy to use. I think of it as a Swiss Army Knife made by Honda - the best of everything.
The upcoming Diamond will have cool factor, with its small size and skin overlay winmobile, but those will be tradeoffs for the bigger does-it-all i760. Touch Pro will be its only competition if you want do-it-all. But I vote Samsung will win, based on my experience with HTC's poor and tinny voice quality comap...
