Question on product focus
I would think there's a market for people who want the above and not too much more, but want it better constructed, more durable, more reliable than what VZ is marketing as the entry-level phones.
Many like me have nice MP3 players and aren't interested in music features on their phones, and also don't want to pay for extra services like VCast.
Some people and businesses, cant have a camera phone, or use txt. Some people can barely even figure out how to turn their phones on (any of you that have been around the store long enough knows that old people will stand in line an hour when all they needed to do was push the red "power" button and their problem is solved).
Most makers, such as lg, samsung, and motorola have a pretty solid line out for entry level phones. true, some of these models arent of the greatest of quality.
I also ...

They would rather not sell a phone with no extras because they make less data revenue.
With that said the lg5400, moto385, and many more entry level phones are really good models for the money
I'm just not interested in music or video, etc. However, if the music playback features could be used for voice memos somehow, maybe I would.

Will the focus on "simple" yet solid, well-built, excellent-battery life, camera flip phones .
Yeah it's called the G'zOne Boulder!!
Battery life is the opposite of excellent, more like abyssmal, UI is gummy and glitchy, and worst -- the sound quality is so bad my friends and family don't like talking to me anymore because neither of us can hear each other very well. Especially the incoming; worst I've ever experienced in a cell phone over 10 years of buying them.
Can't believe anyone would recommend this phone. You should try it before posting something like that.

I do own it and love it!
Sturdy (Boulder had that down if nothing else); have crystal-clear sound; superb battery life; buttons that were easily defined without looking; the same easy-to-"teach" and predictive Word text input LG used on its VX8300; a good camera by cell standards; memory for at least 500 contacts and even more for text messages; a great calendar w. reminders and an easy-to-use voice memo feature.
I won't be using VZW's internet service ever (I can simply text Google for most of my needs anyway, and with an unlimited text plan, that's free). Nor will I use VCast or music.
WTF? I know various people who like new gadgets and upgrade often but comparing cell phone changing to gambling...well that is a bit extreme...I have yet to meet or hear of anyone who has lost their car, house, family ahhhh pretty much everything because they upgrade cell phones frequently. WOW!
