One year contract vs two year

I'm interested, what term contract do most of you choose? I know that most people I know know choose two years and then seem to not be able to keep the phone and then pay full retail or pay 6 bucks a month for ins and then a 50 deductible. Most people I know just want a new phone when it comes out and still do two years and then pay full retail. Wouldn't it be better if we all just paid 70 extra and did a one year contract? It seems like it would save everyone more money.

They make the deals so enticing on the 2 year deals. From what i remember, the prices are drastically different from one to two years.

Just sign the 2, then if you want a new phone, just sell your current phone on ebay or craigslist. then use the money to offset the cost of a new phone at full retail.

I would opt for the 2 yr. Get the largest discount and after 12 months ( if you are on a high enough price plan and are signed up for My Verizon account online) you can do an early upgrade. Otherwise, like cwcanty said, just buy full retail and sell your old phone on ebay or craigslist. Depending on what you originally paid for your NE2 phone, you could make a small profit 🙂

That's always a good idea, only problem with that is a lot of people break or lose their phones. Its only 70 bucks more on a one year.

I am one of those individuals that likes to get a new phone every year so I do a 1yr contract. Then again, I am in a different situation because I get a discount with my company. they offer cheaper phones than retail and the difference between a 1yr and 2yr is only $30.

Yes that is cool. I guess my question reallý goes out to 50 and less plans and secondary lines. Although sometimes that extra two months makes a difference.

hmmm, well i have not signed a contract for over 4 years, i just use a phone for 3-6 months and ebay it while it is still worth something, if you do it often and get the newest phones it works out. I went from the razr,chocolate,9900,8700,voyager, each time i sold my old phone for $200+ on ebay because they where still hot models, I will be putting my voyager on ebay as soon as i figuere out if i want the Dare or the thunder and just through that $ towards retail of the new phone. Ifyou go this route shop around, full retail price will really vary from agents/verizon online/best buy and others.
