Sending & Receiving Long message on my LG VX8700

So, I switched to verizon and got the LG VX8700. Great phone so far.

Just a couple of questions. Maybe you can tell me if it is a Verizon thing or a phone thing.

When I try to send a message over 160 characters it tells me that I am not allowed to do it unless it is to another verizon phone.

Also if somebody sends an email to xxxyyyzzzz@vtext.com I only receive the first few lines of the message.

Are these things that can be changed by a setting or is it a carrier thing.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

you can oly send 160 characters to verizon... you have to create two texts or mone to outside the network.. its a verizon thing. as far as the email. you should be able to view it.. it may be distorted but still viewable.
