get it now access charge per mg? Download from internet?

I have ALWAYS been able to go on GET IT NOW and preview ringtones WITHOUT being charged. This morning I noticed a $5.97 charge on my bill just for previewing.

I was advised by the customer service rep that I could download them on verizonwireless.com and send them directly to my phone. I have tried to do that and even called the customer care service number for verizonwireless.com where the woman told me it was not an option.

Anyone have any information on this???? Please??

I think she's saying you can go to the Get It Now website and preview the ringtones on your computer.

$5.97 just for previewing? You are certain that you didn't download it onto your computer? Perhaps its part of the $1.99/MB charge for data downloading? What does your bill line item say exactly?

What I meant was that I got charged $5.97 for accessing get it now on my phone (sorry about the confusion). I did not download anything aside from the get it now application itself.

I was told that I could preview AND download ringtontes from the internet at verizonwireless.com directly to my phone. Any ideas?

The $5.97 charge simply means you used between 2-3 MB of data that month in combined usage including accessing Get It Now, downloading or previewing ringtones, or browsing the Mobile Web.

It sounds like you changed plans recently. Before, you could go to Get It Now and just use your minutes. If you changed you plan, you now are on the new system which charges you $1.99 for every MB you use.

I can see where there is a section to preview and buy. Question is , is there a place to buy them in a package price like I used to on GET IT NOW? Also, when I click on BUY , how does it now which phone on my account to send it to and how does it get there? Do I then need to plug the usb cable in?

Wrong. No. That's for V-Cast music. Not for ringtones. For ringtones, it must be downloaded directly to your phone (via "Get Screwed Now" I mean "Get It Now" ... sorry).

I am on the website right now and it states ringtones . It doesn't say VCAST anywhere. I was on the vcast page but then went to this ringtone page.

Why do they have to make it so difficult? So annoying!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to Get It Now and select Music and Tones. Then go to Get New Ring Tones. Select Get New App. I use the VZW Tones Deluxe. The only thing you should be charged for is air time. I've downloaded ring tones on 4 different phones and have never been charged for anything other than the tones. I don't think the tones on the Website can be downloaded to your phone, just the ability to preview them. I'd check your bill and call Customer Service to find out what your being charged for.

Yes I am charged for the meg usage. I am on the newer plan since I switched phones which does not allow free browing anymore. I believe it's Nationwide or something like that where I used to have America's choice plan. Had to switch when I got my new phone.

If you are on the new Nationwide calling plans, you are charged per MB while you are browsing in the Get It Now areas. If you were to switch your calling plan now, you would be billed the same way.

Question- What plan are you on? America's Choice or Nationwide?

they said they are on the newer plan, nationwide just above your post.

I hope you are within your 30 days, because you do not have to switch plans to get a new phone under contract. you were misinformed by whoever told you that. Unless you got the voyager, the voyager requires you to be on the nationwide plan.

If you are within your 30 days, call and have your plan put back on the ACII plan you were on.

either that or switch to a premium plan....the venus also requires a nationwide plan to and if they did change back to AC, they would have to send the phone back as well. eventually though all customers are going to have to change to nationwide...

I have the venus and I did not have to switch to the nationwide plan, still on the ACII. I was looking at the voyager, then the rep said I would have to go with the nationwide plan, so I went with the venus instead.

I think most customers will go to the nationwide plan in the future because verizon will come out with some plan that everyone will want and will require moving to the nationwide. I dont think verizon will force anybody over to it. They will have to come out with something great to get me to move, I am right where I need to be, basically unlimited calling plan and five lines. There is not much that will make me want to change plans. Maybe 7 nights, that might get me, but doubtful.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen a discount pack option. To get the ringtone from the site do the following: use search to find your ringtone, choose purchase, accept the terms. The tone will be sent to your phone via mms picture message (shouldn't have any mb charges). When you open the msg click options, save the msg as ringtone and give a name. Then the ringtone will appear in your ringtone list. I just did the same the other day to get a ringtone. Hope the info helps.

p.s.
If you originally registered your "my account" as view only, the above probably won't work. You may need to re-register with the ability to make changes.

You are on the new Nationwide plans. This means that anytime you connect to get it now, you are charged MB usage instead of it taking your airtime. This was done so that your anytime minutes are for voice calls only. You can in fact purchase ringtones right off of Verizon's website. Just login under "My Account" (or register if you havent already done this), and then select the tab that says "Tunes & Tones".

FYI: The Voyager is the only phone that requires the Nationwide plans.
