they have to keep them in the dark otherwise everyone in the world will know when things are coming.
sometimes releasing new plans or devices can be a competitive advantage and if everyone in the world knows (including other carriers) they have more time to prepare.
just like the Unlimited calling plans. had no one known and it just dropped I bet att wouldnt of had a press release 1 hour later announcing their plan.
