Stop MEGABYTE charges!

So, I am out of contract and I figured out my data usage over the past 2 years of my contract. With paying $5 a month for mobile web, I spent $120 (and never went over my contract minutes that were used). With the actual data used, I would have spent $610 over the 2 year contract if it was charged per megabyte. Translated a different way, with mobile web being included now, my data usage would be $25.87/month if I went to a Nationwide plan.

I know, I could go to a premium plan if I want to continue my current ways, but my 1400 minute family share at $89.99/month, with txt, ringback tones, and mobile web (and taxes), my bill comes to about $125/month. If I went to a 1400 minute Nationwide premium plan, it would cost me $159.99 + tax..... ...

i'd prefer that over at&t per kilobyte charge. that's the only real advantage verizon has on pricing. at&t charges .01 per kilobyte which is over 10.00 per megabyte.

Sprint is worse, $.03/KB, that's over $30/MB 😳 . I guess they dont want to give EVERYTHING away for dirt cheap!

its what the other carriers are all doing and verizon's per MB charge is extremely low compared to the other carriers. It kinda sucks that it's not working out for you, but for many this will be a great solution and will save them a ton of minutes.

If you're using data, you should be charged for data (not minutes). And I think the price they are charging is pretty fair.

Sorry to hear that its not working out for you, I would call vzw customer service, and see if they can work out a plan that suits your needs

no. is job is to help people who have real problems, not someone who wants to complain because he is being charged for something he uses.

wrong. part of being in the call center environment are the petty whiny calls.

i realize you have to deal with the whiners. but instead of just pawning the issue off to someone else who isnt going to be able to change the way the verizon price structure works, just tell him that from the get go and save a call in which will most likely turn into multiple call backs and also probably a churn once he doesnt get his way

Why does it matter? From what your saying it sounds like you are on an Amercias Choice Plan and it does not charge MB only min. The nice thing about the Nationwide plan is that you can use mobile web, get it now and receive pictures in the extended network which you cannot do on an Am Choice plan. The data rates are extremely lower then the competitors like AT&T and Sprint ($10 something per MB with AT&T and $30 something per MB with Sprint). If you are on an Am Choice plan you do not have to switch to the Nationwide plan you can just keep doing what you are doing and it will be fine.

I was able to stay on the America's Choice plan with my $5.00 mobile web access when I upgraded 2 of my phones at the end of December. I upgraded to the LG 8350. But like phonemechanic said, if you want a voyager, then you have to get on the Nationwide plans.

While I am not on the Nationwide, MB billing plan, I have decided to adjust and will only use cell phone for calls, saves money! lol

And to further quote vzman23's post, stop advising people to call cs, there is not some "magic wand" that will change what it is, clearly, the original poster is aware and knows the options, cs cannot CHANGE that!

No they can't change that but they can work with the customer to utilize all their options and get onto a plan that will suit there needs best. As handiman said it's your job. I wouldnt be upset if they told him to go into a store, how is that any different?

Oh and there are things you can do for a customer that the stores cannot. This guy is out of contract and seems to be unhappy with his service options, care can offer many save tools that the stores cannot so don't b*&@% and do your job.

I got a Voyager on the AmCh plan. All it did was not send Pix messages and the web didnt work. We just tried it for a customer and they didnt care that the stuff didnt work. But most stores wouldn't do that. So good luck.

Well gozvzw, if you read the original post, they know their options, ie, pay per MB, add Vcast for unlimited MB or change to Premium plan....So, IF YOU know of some SAVE TOOL regarding MB billing you might need to clue everyone else in on it! Personally cant think of much CS can DO that a store can't, other than promising customers credit's then having them call CS to get the credit! or adding features that weren't request so someone else can issue credits for those things..

i agree i don't like the megabyte charges either. however for web usage it's ok. but but for GET IT NOW it's not ok. because just to get on and browse through ringtones or wallpapers or games. it's costing. plus, if you just use it once a month and only us 1KB that gets rounded up to 1MB/$1.99 anyway. and i don't use it enough to justify the $15/month vcast on my line or on my Girlfriends line. we have the $5 MW and use our extra mintues for web(our own little version of rollover he he) and i'm on the lowest minute plan not even available 500 min Fam-share. The only thing i can justify this for is internet usage that should cost more and always has. but your already paying for songs and games and wallpapers(which are overpriced) now ...
