Would the Pearl 8130 work on Verizon's service? I am curious if it would after reading the article about Sprint unlocking phones. Thanks in advance!

What would it take for it to work? Why next year as opposed to now?

read the front page of the website about vzw open access coming soon.

in the meantime while you wait buy a VZW pearl and sell your sprint one on Ebay for as much or more then you paid.

I have Verizon, and as dumb as it is I am bored with silver phones, I have had one for a while and I was just curious if the Sprint Pearl would work. I will probably end up getting the Verizon Pearl anyway

just a suggestion from experience. I have the verizon pearl and i was not too fond of the silver either; however, the silicon cases that they sell makes the phone look pretty sharp! I suggest the black silicon case because the pearl is black as a secondary color in the keypad.

The only downfall to this is it will not fit into a clip and/or will make it fit fairly tight into a holster if you have the silicon case on it. But, it will easily fit into your pocket still if that is how you choose to carry your phone around.

But then again... its only a color and im more worried about service... Verizon does a pretty good job at that! 🙂

i'd say its possible as i've activated alltel phones before, the way i understand our system is if we sell the same model of phone than it will recognize the esn (like an alltel razr v3c or an audiovox 8900) so i guess you just need a friendly rep to let you try it out. i don't think the data would work, but i've never tried activating a pda/bb from another carrier before...since they use the same software maybe its not as hard as getting data to work on alltel/us cellular firmware phones. i know it took forever for me and my friend to get his us cellular firmware working with get it now and vcast, but we did get it to work, although blackberries are a whole different ballpark, it'd be fun to try though i say go for it!
