Ok, so I've been wanting to switch from ATT for awhile now because all my family and most of friends I talk to the most are on verizon...But I have a few issues I'm unclear on...As I see it there are advantages and disadvantages to both companies. Here are the advantages I see for both...
ATT: Unlocked bluetooth to transfer files, audio, pics etc.(LOCKED for verizon). 7 o'clock night and weekend options for ATT, and NOT for verizon. Unlocked phones for ATT which gives a much larger selection of phones, and the ability to travel overseas with an unlocked phone. Data plans are cheaper for ATT (two pda phones with $20 plans for unlimited data). You also have the ability with ATT to download free ringtones, graphics, games, etc. from 3rd ...

How often do you use BT to transfer files?

Could a memory card be used instead?

Have you noticed that if you don't have a certain amount of signal that you simply can't MAKE a call? (can't make em... can't drop em...)

PDA's all have standard interfaces anyway. Window's Palm and Blackberry. Which one is "crippled"?

How many calls do you make between 7 and 9? 30 or maybe 40 minutes MAX? How many minutes do you use to talk to VZW customers?

Have you talked to ATT Customer Service?

Have your rollover minutes expired yet? (see previous queston)

It's up to you. Underneath the fewest dropped calls and the network and the fives or tens or whatever, the carriers are essentially the same. Which one do YOU want?

Actually, I use BT transfers ALL the time for business and just between friends. It makes transfering a lot of files between phone much faster and easier. I do use memory cards but that would take even longer than just sending messages.
Like I said I've only been in one place in the entire country with ATT that I haven't had coverage and I do go to very remote places.
My UI comment was not really on PDA devices, it was more for the common phone. Not a huge issue for me, but I was just wondering why on VZW's high end phones (not PDA) they have standard UI.
I actually make a decent amount of calls between 7 and 9 since I'm on the road a lot during that time.
Customer service is a lost cause. Anybody who has worked in CS will tell yo...

It really all depends on where you live. I live in the eastern part of Tennessee and there is little to no coverage for ATT compared to verizon. I also travel alot with my phone as well, and I at one time used to carry around both ATT(Cingular) and verizon, and I would be in more place that I had no coverage with ATT or I maybe just had one bar or none but the name was still showing and it would not let me make a call. I never have that problem with verizon, even if I have no signal and it still says Verizon at the top I still can make crystal clear calls, now I would really like to see you do that with your ATT phone, because If i can recall below three bars it was always garbled and I could not make out what the person was trying to say. A...

If you are transfering files from phone to phone you are probably using a smartphone, so the bluetooth restrictions not an issue (as in there are not restrictions from VZW on the bluetooth abilities of the smartphones)

VZW uses a standard interface because that is what customers want. Most customers dont want to relearn a phone everyime they get one, they want to be able to upgrade to a new phone and already know how to use it.

VZW doesnt have much of anything to make it unique, it isnt trying to be unique, it is trying to be the best overall provider. VZW isnt for you if you want a company that is unique.

Well, I guess VZW is unique in the way they dont give in to market trends to try to win customers. Or if they do it is very late in the game. For example, VZW doesnt have an option for nights to start at 7pm, that kind of makes them unique ;)

Just remember, overall VZW is the most expensive carrier, yet they maintain the highest customer loyalty and most retail adds quarter after quarter. VZW is for customers that care more about quality than getting cheap service. (remember though, VZW isnt great in all markets)
If you have friends or family with VZW that...

Now I will be honest I'm not a bluetooth person but I did a training the other day for our new venus and voyager and it said you can transfer files via bluetooth. And my co-worker, who's more data savvy, said most of our newer devices, moto Q9m, are allowing bluetooth transfers. One guy transfered contacts to another with the q9m. So you may want to look deeper into that.

My grandparents live in a remote area and most of my mom's family is at&t. I bought her a vzw phone so we can talk for free and learned when her car broke down it was vzw she was able to pick up service with and call for help.

As for nights at 7pm, I think we may eventually come around on that. Now when I don't know but there is a large demand and it comes up everyt...
