Ok, going to Canada and did a temporary switch to the new Canada + plan. rep says it includes data as long as I am not roaming.

I don't think so, unless you have a PDA and they gave you Americas Choice + Calada with Data (extra $45).. You can use txt messages in Canada tho. 🙂

If you have a PDA don't use it without putting on the 64.99 global PDA package or disable the data or you will be charged a roaming fee. Text messages to work the same in Canada though.

I would just stick to text messaging. You will be in extended network the minute you hit the border.

"data" is a term that covers many topics. If you are refering to data as in internet access/email on a PDA it is not included and you will be charged .2 cents per KB transfered.

If by data you mean things like the mobile web or pix/flix messages they are included as those use airtime.
