You better write nice things about Verizon, or else...

An article today (Oct. 10) in the LA Times titled "Free speech could lead to online disconnect", we learn that deep in Verizon's contract, in very fine lines, lies a clause that states that those Verizon high speed internet users may be deprived of their service if they "damage the name or reputation of Verizon, its parent, affiliates and subsidiaries, or any third parties".

That's right. Even if you condemn Verizon for doing something wrong that deservedly damages its reputation, you are in deep doodoo.

A Verizon spokeman said "actions speak louder than words", and that although this language is written in the contract, Verizon does not enforce it.

(ATT is doing the same thing).

Dear lord ...

The FBI boogey men are around the corner waiting to pounce on you for bad mothing Bush too...

Seriously they only time VZW would ever seriously enforce something like this would probably be if you got caught hacking or promoting child porn or something else illiegal imoral ect that got thier name drug into the news.

in which case things like that are a TOS violation any how so they'd still be in teh right to decline your service.

Basically Verizon doesn't want you to tell the truth about the horrible service they offer you.

Keep your mouth shut about our crappy services and crappy employees and we won't turn off your overpriced services.

All is well on "The Network". ROFL.

hey retard the quote is from the Verizon Online Terms and conditions it has nothing to do with verizon wireless and shouldnt even be in this forum.

Verizon Wireless is not the same company as Verizon, at&t is doing the same thing, and who really cares. Thats a cover your ass type rule incase they need to deactivate someone. who really gets deactivated for slandering Verizon? show me a story of people who have been.

Verizon Wireless has similar policies in contract. However they are VERY rarely enforced and the only times they have been is upon customers who are down right obscene.

That's right, a company that has terminated service because a customer has threatened and harrassed to the point that it became a problem. I say kudos to that.

So for all those people that read thoroughly into contracts, good for you for reading it, but not everything is a "We will do this everytime" case, its a protection clause so anal consumers can't try to infiltrate the courts for frivlous lawsuits against the company.

Not to say this would directly be one of those cases, but the aforementioned multiple times service outage in TX. If there wasnt a point in t...

so if i readright you are saying that if someone calls in and harrasses the employees or is insanely obscene and rude, then congrats to the company who cancels them?

In EXTREME situations. It wasnt common, so you did not read it right.

Sprint got heck for cancelling lines due to excessive call in's, not obsene behavior.

Let's reiterate.

In very rare cases it has happened. And yes I say congrats to the company who cancels them, be it sprint, verizon, whatever. I am not going to sit on the phone and have someone threaten my life over something that they did. It isnt a one time thing when they were cancelled either.

It was a consistent thing, they would call all hours of the day and harrass and verbally abuse and threaten employees to the point that some and multiples were extremely scared. If a customer is going to do that then I say you don't deserve to have a device to communicate yo...

Wrong about what exactly? What did you ask me that I answered incorrectly?

You said sprint got heck for the same thing, but it was the exact opposite, if customer service/sprint would have fixed the issue they wouldnt have had to call in so many times.

As for opinions, they can't be wrong, just bias. So enlighten me please!

oh just for the record it wasnt for excessive call ins...it was for the customer who whined until people who whined about paying their bill until the rep gave the a credit..so it wasnt for excessive call ins it was for customer who every month called in and got credits put on their accounts. the majority of them were people that had lines for a year or twp and never payed a cent...there was one lady who was credited over 5 grand...so before you talk get your facts straight....oh and by the way all companies cancel customer like that...check into how many verizon and at&t have done(at&t hands down being the worst of them all
