warranty issue

I have a phone that is not a year old yet, and the volume button on the side does not work to good. It will turn the volume down like it should, but turning it back up is becoming more and more a problem. I have to push on it hard and over and over to get it to turn the volume up. Once I get it to do it, then it works normal again till next time

Being that this is under a year old, will be year old in december, I know that verizon usually will do a FRU at the store. My question is, can a person deal directly with the manufacture of the phone?

I have a back up I can use, and if I send my orginal phone in, I would keep my games, ringtones, ect. So I would much rather just send in my phone and get my phone back.

I also remember so...

It depends on what brand of phone you have. If you have an LG phone and send it to them, they will send you a replacement. If it is a Motorola, Samsung, or Audiovox (UTStarcomm) they will usually fix it and send it back. I'm not sure what to tell you to expect for a turnaround time - sometimes it is a little as 10 days sometimes it take 6+ weeks.

Actually most manuf. just send out referbs now as opposed to fixing them, it makes the turn around time quicker.

I deal with warranties through the manufacturer constantly for customers, and its usually around a 3-6 week turn around, I think the quickest I have EVER seen a turn around in the 50 or so I have done is about 2 weeks.

Good Luck

Call customer service tell them the problem and they may direct you to a store to help you. At least it is logged in the notes that you called them. Then at the store they will look at the phone and more than likely they will replace it for you and yes the last time I did a switch they gave me a credit for the stuff I had downloaded as long as I downloaded the same stuff nothing different. They will credit your account if you call in after you redownload the same songs and games.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies. I have a LG, so doesn't look like it will be any different then going thru verizon for a FRU. Sounds like they will credit the downloads for fru's under warranty, so I will try for that.

update..

I just called verizon direct and they are sending a replacement phone. They will also credit the ringtones and games when the phone is replaced under warranty. You have to buy the same songs and games, and you have to purchase it the same way you bought it the first time, such as if you buy a ringtone bundle package of 2 rintones, you have to buy another bundle package of the same, then call in and have them credit the account.

so now you know how it works.
