National Access - Which Plan

onourway

I've spent the last 2 days trying to decide which plan and phone to get.

I've been reading and getting conflicting advice about the following.

I was leaning to the Single Rate Plan but I don't like the 2 phones they offer for National Access. I was told that any phone with 1xrtt will work as long as it's a tri-mode phone. I was also told that VZW will activate any phone that's compatible with their system. I want to have "tethered use" that will permit access to Verizon's ISP for fast access or, if not on the network, then dial into my current ISP. I don't want to pay roaming or xtra fees for data.

Help.

Verizon offers a National Access plan that combines data and voice calling together. In pricing, it is identical to the Singlerate plan, but allows access on the 1X network. Plans start at $35 for 150 minutes and go up. You can divide your minutes between voice calling or internet connections as you see fit. You use whatever browser software you like and don't need Verizon's ISP.
This plan does not charge roaming nor are you charged separately for data. You only get charged if you go over your minutes.
This plan is simple and straightforward, but in practice, it's not a popular option since it does not include nights/weekends or mobile to mobile. The majority of folks go with an America's Choice plan to get more minutes for the same $ pl...

You post is exactly what I was looking for. I could not find the National Access plan on VZW web site so I was not sure it was available. I was also confused because they didn't include some tri-mode phones that are available in Americas Choice plan as available in the SingleRate plan. Anyway I was fearful that I'd walk in a store with a phone that is 1xRTT compatible and they wouldn't activate it.

I went to 1-800 mobile site and they offer tons of phone with the NationalAccess Plan. I'm wading through all the ratings and specs but is there a tri-mode phone that you're particularly fond of???

Again thanks for your help

On the VZW site, look under Business for the National Access plans.

I haven't determined yet if this is true, but I have read in various places that you can use 1xRTT for Internet even with America's Choice and you only get charged for minutes used.

It is very confusing. I'm probably going to have to head back to the Verizon store or make a call to customer service.

Last week, I upgraded my phone because my contract was up (to a VX7000). I had the NationalAccess 150 plan. The guy at the Verizon store insisted that plan was no longer available and that I should go with the America's Choice plan and they could add the 1xRTT Internet access to that plan and it would just come out of my minutes. But he couldn't figure out how to do ...

Frustration, isn't it. Went to a Verizon store to handle the various phones I was considering and the well-versed salesperson said specifically that "I didn't need a data plan just a cable" on the America's Choice Plan

First time I've received that response. Usually they tell me that I need a data plan.

I read different things about this.

But I have been told by two different Verizon reps that I could use the 1xRTT Internet with America's Choice and just use minutes. Last Monday, I stopped at a Verizon store in a mall and was about to upgrade my phone to the VX7000 and that's when they told me I could do it on the America's Choice plan - but they were out of the VX7000.

So I went to a different Verizon store a few days later and they told me the same thing - 1xRTT Internet was OK on America's Choice. But when he actually tried to set it up on the computer, he couldn't figure it out and had to wait to talk to a "data guy" at Verizon.

From what I have read on the web and newsgroups, they may be right, but a certain feature has to b...

The two reps that told you that you could use the 1xRTT Internet with America's Choice and just use minutes needs to get fired. There is a group of people that reviews each acct to check if everything is ok and if they see that you're connecting to the 1x network and all it's costing u is minutes then they will remove the 1x feature code of your acct. You have to pay to connect to that network, sorry you can't get it for free.

This looks like an old subject, but maybe I can still get a response. When I connect to 1x, I only get charged airtime minutes.

In the enhanced services part of my billing is the statement: "Natl Enhanced Svc Access" I don't see this listed on any of the current plans so I'm wondering if I got an unadvertised (and unexplained) promotion last August.

I don't mind paying for a data plan, if it's needed, but if this plan is providing it, why not use it? If it matters, I live in Punta Gorda, Florida. I wonder if Verizon did something nice for us after hurricane Charley did something nasty!

I was amazed that Verizon was in here within 2 days after Charley with mobile towers - we had phone service before we even had food and water from ...

There is a feature that allows you to use National Access with out paying anything extra. It's called the Minutes Of Use (MOU) plan. If you use the internet durring the day, it's peak minutes, at night or weekend, probably free if your plan makes those times free.

The default data network feature placed on your acct is national access minutes of use. This is used with mobile web or gin or pix msging. However, when you use a mobile office kit you have to pay for the data. If your not paying for it now, count your blessings and dont be surprised if one day you have to pay for it.
