Verizon is going to stop the same old boring UI !!!!

Yup, just got word that VZW is going to allow fully customizable UI soon.......right after all the customers promise to stop calling in about how to change simple settings on their phone versus reading the freaking manual.

Seriously, do you not realize that the same UI allows the reps to walk a customer through the phone menu easier and that it helps customers transition from one phone to the next easier.

If you are that sick of it, it is YOUR fault!!! Take the time to become a hacker and software designer.......make your own UI and hack the phone. Keep in mind it will delete your warranty.

Oh, so maybe I can read my freaking phone. I am legally blind, and some parts of the OS are hard to read. All other carriers don't load their phones with a custom OS that doesn't allow one to change the font size. I have had Sprint, and Cingular, and also sold phones for old AT&T, Cingular, Sprint, and T-Mobile and non of them I had trouble reading (sometimes after changing the font).

What happens when new FEATURES are added? Like try to format an expansion card, change font sizes, copy and paste, sort a content list, etc.?

Just keep the UI simple? How about offering the standard THEME for those who want it? Users still get support from the OEM anyway.

While support is available from the OEM, very few customers are willing to go there to get it. If I told a customer to ask Motorola how to work their phone, they would laugh in my face.

Maybe for basic talking features. Not for stuff like Bluetooth printing, DUN, WiFi, etc. As the phone gets more advanced the less likely you will get quality service from the retailer.

Besides, why should grandma pay the same monthly cost for support as those who depend heavily on multi device interoperability?

This would be great news, but are you serious or are you being facetious?
