total equip. coverage

I was under the impression that the $6 total equip. coverage was meant to cover everything but lost, stolen and water damage without having to pay the $50 deductible. I know with Sprint it is like that so when I added it with VZW I asked if it was the same and the rep told me yes... I have the vx9400 and the screen went out on me... can anyone tell me what the total equip. coverage entails and can I get around the $50 deductible since I was given false info?

on know this is off topic, but as long as there's no physical damage and no water damage, i bet you can get them to warranty it since its most likely a defect

let me clarify... its not a defect lol it went out on me because i dropped it... i completely understand if it had water damage or whatnot but it doesnt. my thing is this... first of all i work for sprint and our tep covers everything except lost, stolen and water damage. if it is either of those 3 things THEN there is a $50 deductible. I asked the VZW rep when i got my phone if the coverage was the same and he told me yes... so to my suprise, i was told that there is a $50 deductible no matter what

Yeah, $50 deductable. The TEC basically extends the factory warranty (against defects) for the second year.

You have to pay a $50 deducatble to get your phone replaced since you dropped it.

hmm...i'm just an indirect so all we can offer is the 4.99 asurion, so i'm not familiar with the policies on that kind of equipment protection, just thought i might save you a bit of money 😛

Did you ask "is the coverage the same as Sprint" or did you spell out the terms you're accustomed to and ask if they were the same? If all you asked was if the terms were the same but didn't specify, the rep couldn't have known what terms he was comparing to.

Very true... and it sounds like he named the terms to the person and left off physical damage from the list of things they named. Changes are I wouldn't have realized that and agreed as well.

i specifically asked if it was exactly the same. i told him our exactly what ours covered and he said it was the same... its not a huge deal, its only $50 and not $400 but i was still under the impression that it was free replacement unless it was lost, stolen or WD. Any way around it though?

And thats not covered in store!?!?!?
WTF verizon, offer some coverage for your 7 bucks a month.

Dude, that would be either fixed in store by sprint, or replaced with another phone.
Why should he have to pay 50 bucks?

all i can say is that if you think that a protection plan is going to cover if you run over a phone then there is something wrong with the way you think ....no protection plan says that if YOU break your phone the company will just give you a new one ...so pay the $50 since it was your fault and quit trying to beat the system

Yea.. okay
You obviously are way too harsh on ESRP claims buddy. Drop the phone, cracks the screen, either we can replace the screen in store if we have one, or we'll order you another phone.

Do it all day, every day.

TEC is a combination of the extended warranty and the WPP Asurion. If it's a manufacturer's defect, the phone is covered for as long as you have it. There will be no charge once it goes out of its one year warranty.

If it has physical damage, water damage, or is lost/stolen it's a $50 deductible through the insurance company. Some stores will allow you to do the $50 fee in store, but if you have insurance they're not supposed to.

If you didn't have the insurance, they'd still do a $50 fee in store if your phone had physical damage, but no water damage or lost/stolen.

I doubt any company would give you a new phone for free if you cracked the screen or broke it in half; that's just stupid.

If your screen is just blank, and there...

Agreed. Most of the major players use Asurion as their insurance vendor. Technically, you can go to Asurion for any reason, say "my phone is broken" and for $50 they'll replace it. The extended warranty (VZW) or equipment warranty service plan for (Sprint) will cover defects, just longer than the OEM warranty. It appears sprint may have a plan available too for damaged phones to replace them over the counter for $50 if there's no insurance, VZW does not have an official policy to do this, but we do have options besides full retail.

Reading the details on sprint's website, the extended warranty service plan does not cover abuse, neglect, or physical damage. Normal wear and tear only (cracked LCDs are not normal wear and tear).

What it says is covered and what we cover in a sprint service and repair store are two very different things.

If you have TEP, and the phone wasnt lost, stolen, water, or circuit board damage, you WILL get taken care of in my store.

Ok first of all, i am not trying to beat, manipulate, or work the system, jokin. I understand the system and I could really care less about paying the $50 deductible, as i mentioned in a previous post... so before you are quick to cast down your uninformed, arrogant criticisms, try stepping down off your egotistical soap box... d-bag...

Char, from everything that we have dealt with in our corporate location, we take care of all physical damage as long as the customer has the $7 TEP, and as long as it is not blatant that the customer purposly damaged their phone. Its pretty much a case by case scenario and that is what i base my information off of.

Bloodied and Techie, thanks for the knowledgeable, useful information reguarding VZW and...

I understand your problem, but I think the real problem was at the point of purchase. Like with anything else, knowledge is power...and unfortunately, you yourself said "I was under the impression" and therein lies the problem. I'm sorry you got bad info, but that is the crux of your problem. Maybe you'll get some relief from the manager or tech, and if you do, it would really be a stretch for them but ultimately good for the company.

That is definetly where my problems lies. Being in the corporate business I should have known better to read the fine print 😉 but I also personally know the manager of the location I purchased the device and service from. Although he is not the one who took care of me I trusted that he would hire good, knowledgeable employees. I am not saying that this one little mistake makes that person a terrible employee as it is just a very small mistake, it was just inconvenient and also a mistake on my part for not double checking to see exactly what I received from the service I purchased. I will be going back to that location to speak with the manager about it and hopefully he can help me out but if not... its only $50 😉 Thanks for the inp...

My problem lies in the fact that I was under the impression by info given to me by a corporate employee (aparently just trying to make an extra buck or 2 in commission)that the $6 TEC covered all physical damage.

I don't make commission selling insurance. I don't think anybody else does either.
