Spot Wave Signal Booster??

Boulderboy

Hi,
Just saw the banner ad on Phone Scoops home page. Has anyone got any experience with this system. It costs $399. Is it a repeater? My VZW signal is plain terrible and VZW said they have no plans to do anything about it through 2008 after I opened a trouble ticket.
If this Spot Wave Signal Booster works I'll buy it, if not may have to leave VZW.

Thanks.

Check this website out, I use there amplifier which was cheaper than other websites offerings and it works great(5 years). I'd assume the same for there repeaters: starts at $285.

To both of these posters, please be aware that use of an unauthorized repeater can disrupt signal for other VZW users. That being said, if VZW network techs research an area (for instance, if a trouble ticket is entered) and find that an illegal repeater is being used and that this is the cause of the disruption, you can be disconnected with an ETF. All signal transmission needs to be registered with the FCC and by using a repeater, you are illegally transmitting a signal. (That is an FCC regulation and is a legal reason that can be used and will hold in court if you tried to fight it) Now, before you get upset about this, please keep in mind, I am telling you the regulations to help protect you (and in the case of the poster who has yet to ...

I use the 3W Amp which doesn't violate any FCC or VZW regulations. The Repeater is FCC approved , and is only powerful enough to to affect coverage in the area of a house at this price point. So how would any carrier ever figure out that your using a repeater? Besides that, to my knowledge using a repeater violates nothing according to VZW or the FCC. Many buildings use the larger scale repeaters and no special permission(VZW and others) or FCC approval is needed.

I think that only covers really powerful repeaters which are way stronger than the ones we are talking about here.

i know their is going to be an accessory that Sprint is going to have an accessory by Samsung ans some other manufacture, that will boost a signal (indoors). Should be offered by the end of this year. I'm guessing it's a CDMA booster.

If cell phone repeaters were illegal, Ratshack would not be selling them!

Exactly. We sell the Wilson boosters where I work. However, if you call into Verizon to do a warranty replacement for whatever reason, and it comes out that you're using a booster, they will tell you that the booster (or more exactly, the adapter) voids your warranty. So just don't tell them! 🙄

I beleive that is more for the stickers that people put in the back of their handsets, when their removed they take the ESN label with them, thus voiding the warranty.

Spot Wave is actually a supplier for much of the newer generation RF equipment for Verizon, they have also been known to supply repeaters in retail locations that fall in marginal coverage areas. I don't have any personal experience with the repeaters but I would say its probably worth a shot.
