Airplane/Standalone/Music mode
One of my friends was traveling by airplane the other day. He said he had his phone on standalone mode for music, but the flight attendant made him turn it off completely.
So I was wondering, as far as I can tell, there should be no problem if the transceiver on the phone is turned off (since it's not transmitting). I'll be traveling in a couple of weeks, so I wanted to know - I want to watch movies on my enV while on the plane using my bluetooth stereo headset. Will there be any problem if I do this with my phone on standalone/music mode? Or with using bluetooth stereo headset?
And if I do have a problem, what's the best way to handle it? I don't want to cause a commotion, but there shouldn't be a problem since t...

because of 9/11 most airlines do not allow any cellular device to be on during flight.
This gives the peice of mind to the crew and the passengers.
Which brings me to this question.
Who the hell came up with the ATT comercial all the cell phones being used on a plane? Is it just me or does this comercial not make sense? Maybe I am thinking about it too hard?
But yeah your right, about the not having the phone on regardless of "airplane" mode, the flight crew doesnt want to have to check every individual phone that is on to make sure its on "flight mode" correctly. They just say "turn off all phones", which I understand.
When the Wireless networks and airlines can agree on the method to collect and split revenue from cell phone usage, you will see it legalized.
By-the-way, doesn't anyone besides me see the stupidity of not letting someone use their phone as a music player when it is in standalone mode?
