So by that statement... Marketing == Desperate? Then I suppose every company in every industry is desperate for business... And on this note... (correct me if i'm wrong) I recall for several months Verizon was the only carrier offering two phones for the price of one... Was Verizon marketing then... or just desperate for customers?

That was not the implication but let's go with this and reflect on the last few years... Verizon has dominated the wireless industry, as you said it was a "powerhouse". A Solid 2 1/2 yr lead before Cingular Wireless was formed... A fresh wireless company with a good back taking on the largest wireless carrier in the US. With smart marketing and avertising, in your opinion "desperate" actions, Cingular besides Verizon were the only wireless carriers to make money since the last quarter of 2003.

This particular discussion reminds me of when Bill Gates took over as the "richest man in the world" making the Prince of Saudi Arabia (I believe it was, correct me if i'm wrong) the second richest... When the prince was asked, "How does it feel be...

🤣 Verizon Wireless is not afraid of this merge, their smart customers know where the REAL service is at, and will remain loyal customers. Verizon Wireless has class, and has top notch customer service, with few complaints for such a LEADING PROVIDER in the wireless industry. With the merge the only thing verizon wireless is looking forward to is increasing our customer base by acquiring the "new cingular's" dissatisfied customers. You can lower the nights and weekends to 7, you bring out phones before a complete testing and eat the money of replacing them. Verizon Wireless continues to lead the industry because they are a smart company. Our money spent wisely, our employees have one of the best training programs, and our service sell...

Why do you Cingular people STILL continue to spew incorrect information after being being corrected almost every time? 1 more time for Speck:

Verizon Wireless formed by mergers on April 4, 2000
Cingular formed by mergers in August 2000

How do you get 2 and 1/2 years headstart from that? Only through a buyout can Cingular be considered a competitor on true scale and you haven't even gone through the growth pains associated with mergers. Like having to break leasing agreements for closing stores. All those towers and having redundant coverage means the company will shut alot of them off which is more broken leasing agreements, the over abundence of employees that will need to be streamlined, billing systems and rate plans that will have...

No... That's not the point... The point is that Verizon does not treat their customers as they should... they treat customers like hostages... Every time you want to change your rate plan you have to sign a new contract... they don't offer 7pm calling b/c that would be way to generous and Verizon has well established themselves as the greediest company in the wireless industry... again, I make my bluetooth reference... they took that convenience away from their customers until they find a way to charge for it... Verizon does have a few perks, but all around, they do not do much for their customers...

😲 Well if you were a customer you would know that you can change your price plan at anytime, now if you choose to take advantage of a new promotion then at that time you would need to extend the terms of your contract. If you are looking to just increase or decrease your peak usage minutes, you can make that change at anytime without having to extend your terms. While you're sitting back, maybe you should take better notes of the BEST Wireless company in the industry!

Sarah143VZW

Nov 3, 2004, 3:09 PM
Then they took advantage of a new promotion, they probably switched to the unlimited "IN" calling promotion, which is a contract extention. If you want just more minutes keeping the same "perks" that you currently have, then there is no extention. If you want the latest and greatest promotion, then obviously you're going to have to sign a new agreement, because what you signed at the point of sale for your current contract, would be void with new features and promotions and that is why you are required to sign a new agreements. I hope that was clear enough for you, and if your family and friends, and for the rest of the people on list.... how do they feel about you being the only one that isn't "IN". If everyone around you is with Verizon ...

ok... so they did that, then got hit with a high bill b/c the secondary line did not have 'in'... so they called to complain b/c noone told them that, then said they could sign another contract (2 months later) so the second line could be 'in'... it doesn't make any sense to me... if you are on a contract, why make them sign another one... just another way Verizon keeps their churn low... hold em hostage... :-)

Actually you can't really call it holding anyone hostage, because it is a choice. Your friends and family members choose to switch to a currently marketed price plan and extend the terms, now if they just wanted higher minutes then their contract would've stayed the same as the day they signed. Verizon Wireless stays the best because they have smart business technigues that allow them to lead the wireless industry. I think you're upset because you're not a VZW customer, and you're probably being held hostage by another provider with an ETF higher then VZW's. So if your family and friends do feel that their previous promotion was better, they always have 30days to switch back, but it looks like they went ahead and signed a new aggrement and ...
