I need some advice

Everyone,

I have a family share plan that I got over Memorial Day last year. We got two Motorola E815s using the online purchase function. The phones have not been great and my wife wants another one. I go online and it says that I can only change the phone if I pay full retail. Does anyone have any other options that I can explore? SHe really wants something different to use.

Thanks

They won't be able to purchase insurance on this phone will they?

If they already have insurance on that line it will carry over.

not to insult, but saying that you used the online purchasing option, and now asking a forum of commissioned sales-persons for help with alternative purchases isn't really going to get you anywhere.

Ebay.

The primary line can get a new phone on Memorial Day. If your wife is not on the primary line, then get a new phone on the primary line, switch back to the old phone using an ESN switch in your online account, and then switch your wife to the new phone. Again:

1.) Upgrade Primary Line
2.) Go to online account and ESN switch the Primary line back to the old phone.
3.) ESN switch your wife's line to the brand new phone.

Also, use backup assistant before you do any of this so you don't have to type your phone numbers in again or pay a tech to transfer your contacts.

It's called the Annual Upgrade program btw.

Gotta keep the wife happy!

Where do you go in My Account to change the ESN number? Is this only for new activations?

It say something like Activate a phone and it's good for all ESN changes. Some don't work online but as long as you tried it online first, Customer Service will waive the ESN change fee.

With the online ESN change, how frequently can you change it? With GSM phones, I know you can use whatever phone by just changing out the SIM card. But, for example, is it possible to use a PDA phone for a while, then switch to another standard, smaller cell phone by switching the ESN number online?
Or is there a limit on the number of times you can do this?

You could theoretically change your esn every day. I think if you do 3 esn changes a day you'll have to wait 24 hours. You wouldn't be able to swich to a pda or the other way because pda phones require additional provisioning. But barring that, it shouldn't be a problem

Ok thanks for that info. Do you (or anyone else) know if VZW will be introducing RUIM (Reusable User Identification Module) or CSIM (CDMA Subscriber Identification Module) for their CDMA phones? Having a SIM card for CDMA phones would really be nice.

Thanks!
