Question about vzw

it's interesting, they depending on txting for their ad campaigns, and push it to everyone except, their txt features DON'T include a LIMIT or a "no more characters" warning when you type too much, instead, they just send you a txt back after you write a long message and give a BS explaination, basically saying your message was sent except for anything after the limited number of characters allowed.....why do they not make better decisions?

the 160 character limit is only for messages sent to non vzw phones. there is a thing at the top that shows how you are doing ie 149/160

If you are sending to a vzw customer you can type as much as you want and it will go thru in one message. the phone is not able to tell if the number if VZW or not just by the number without anything being sent.

It can be annoying, but its not hard to monitor.

Not true. Text messaging is limited to 160 characters and not all phones show you where you are. Some, in fact, will allow you to create as long as you want and then send multiple messages to get the full message through. A pix message, however, will allow you to add up to 1000 characters in that message. My Treo, for example, will cut the message at 160 characters for a text...but it does have the character counter to go by.

You can call the explanations BS all you want but the fact is that there is a hierarchy of TXTs:

SMS: Up to 160 characters in length. Pretty much everybody treats this as a regular old text message.

EMS: Can be longer than 160 characters (IIRC, up to 1,024) and can have some extra characters in them like smileys. Verizon considers these TXTs but some carriers treat them as something else or not at all.

MMS: A message with a picture or sound embedded in it. Otherwise has the text carrying capacity of EMS. More or less everybody treats this as a "picture message".

As stated elsewhere, Verizon can't tell you who can accept an EMS before you send one because of the sad fact that they do not employ psychics. Oh, would I rail against V...
