Reference WiMax in Chicago aritcle in the Chicago Tribune 4/12/2007 - Sorry fellows I don't have the link. The article goes into detail about how Wimax could change the industry in a fashion similiar to the switch from landline phone services to wireless phone services only in this case with mobile data. The article suggests that many consumers would be willing to switch from their current internet providers to Sprint's WiMax if the speeds were similiar, the pricing competitive, and they were able to go mobile. Since there is not another company out there with anything in the pipeline that compares to Sprints WiMax, does WiMax give Sprint a much needed edge over Verizon and Cingular, specifically if Sprints offers lowpriced bundles that incl...

Yes, Wimax will destroy EV-DO in every way.

Wouldn’t one switch if they would pay a bit less than the current pricing but offering more speeds? In a flash.

To me it's a Magic Trick, Verizon hasn't disclosed their 4G info yet... just like they did with Rev A EV-DO, it was quiet. Verizon knew Rev A is not going to be a main factor in getting more Net Adds. There isn't even a Rev A handset on Verizon or Sprint. Wimax in theory seems promising but just like the multiple mobile TV signals that keep testing... there might be something even better. Who knows if Verizon will go WiMax, continue with EV-DO Rev B & C, or look for something completely different... but the main thing will still be voice whether on a voice network or VoIP data network.

Wimax, IMO, is a hugely over hyped technology being pushed by Intel. They need to stick with what tye know best, that is making processors.

just of the info that the industry is thinking abouyt with evdo rev c. By the time sprint has wimax is some area this could give vzw some time to get rev c they could even give people free hanset to move up just to turn the old 1x off so all they would use is evdo 0/a/b/c so they could greatly increase the speeds. But then again this is all hypothetical. We will not know anything until it is actually in broad use in the industry
