I got too many smart ass responses in the Shop Talk forum. I was wondering if there really is a difference between the Black Q and the Silver Q?

Unless something has changed on the most recent shipment of the Silver Q's, there is a MAJOR software difference between the Black Q and the Silver Q. The Black Q ships with the MOL2 software package which has a bunch of fixes to make it more stable and provides an amazing upgrade to battery life.

I have updated the software on my Silver Q to the MOL2 that the Black Q has and it is a much more stable device and I can make it through 2 days on a single charge of the standard battery.

You should take it back and exchange it.

I have a black Q set to check e-mail once every 15 minutes, I can make a dozen calls using a Bluetooth head set, play Bubble Breaker for 1/2 hour at lunch, spend 1/2 surfing the web and still have 3 bars at the end of the day. I have the standard battery.

thanks for the response...i'll do that. when i mentioned that i was having poor battery life with doing just about nothing, the verizon folks where i got it just said '...well the battery life isn't good at all & we recommend the extended battery...'

I have a black Q also and get decent battery life. By the time I get home I have two bars left after checking e-mail every 1/2 hour, 30-60 minutes of talking and streaming xmradio over the bluetooth headset on the ride home for an 30-45 minutes.

The corporate store sales idiot told me that I would definitely require the extended battery but the standard battery is working fine.

Keep in mind that as with any CDMA phone the battery life can be greatly affected by how strong of signal you have, I have about 1-3 bars all day. If you are constantly at 0-1 bars your battery life would be worse.
