I'm contemplating getting a new phone (currently have an Audiovox 8900 - old, I know, but I like it).. and I can't quite decide between a Kyocera Slyder Remix and the Razr.. any thoughts? 😕

the remix is better since it has a memory card slot... but motorola vs. kyocera overall is equal place for dead last in quality.

all manufacturer prejudices aside the remix outmatches it.

That's strange because I just read somewhere that Motorola makes 6 of the top 10 best selling phones. I like Nokia first, then Motorola, then LG.

top selling? yeah i will go with that, because it has nothing to do with reliability. but all motorolas are pieces of crap.

All companies make bad phones. Motorola has had their share of good and bad.

I can name as many bad LGs as I can Motorolas. I'm not saying Motorola makes great phones every time, but to say that all of their equipment is bad isn't true.

I'm only Mexican when I agree with them. Today, it seems, I'm definitely NOT Mexican.

you must be the polar opposite of a mexican today, you are probably a limey by non-association.

Wait, aren't you usually a limey by association? That explains the lime in the margarita.

I can probably name more bad Motos than LGs. I'm not loyal to any brand at all, but I would have to say that I'm a fan of the RAZR and v323.

As far as the Remix, I wouldn't even think about touching it for a few months. If there is one thing that Kyocera has been pretty consistent with lately, it's putting out crappy phones that don't last more than a few months.

I agree with you spum. I would personally rate Motorolas tie for first with Nokia as far as reliability. But Motorolas have better reception and more styles to choose from. Right now the V323/325 and the Razr are tops. Can't think of any top-selling Nokias.

I have traditionally hated Motorolas. Horrible interface, the worst charging port on the green earth, software problems, etc etc. However, I heard so many good things about the Razr that I picked one up, and love it. New mini-USB charging port, great reception, awesome display... so I hate to admit it, but I have to give Moto some props.

Kyocera, on the other hand... I don't think I would EVER own one. There have been so many Kyocera P.O.S's that I don't see them changing their tune in the near future. The Slider Remix looks good on paper though!

To answer your question specifically alyon, go with the Razr. Kyocera's are nowhere near as reliable as Motorolas imho.

I like both phones.

I just got the slider remix and I really like it.

I love the screen on the razr yet I hate the keypad. Its not much better on the slider as either.

I know with razr and Moto Mobile Phone tools you can take mp3 and upload them to the phone.

The data kit that came with the slider did not even work and I am not going ot buy a Memory card for the remix if you cant set your mp3 as a ringtone.
