Oh contrare my friend. You will see this phone launched with uscc but probably under the verizon name once merger talks are completed. Uscc will begin using the same ev do network that verizon has now. Why do you think that we just started the data roaming agreement with verizon as our first carrier.

Lets just assume for the sake of humoring you that USCC and Verizon ARE in talks to merge. It would be against the law for USCC to choose Verizon solely because of a possible merger.

The reason for the data roaming agreement with Verizon is that U.S. Cellular has been using Verizon as a roaming partner on CDMA all along and their national network will provide a better experience than starting with someone like Sprint.

I would recap why I believe that USCC will not be bought out in the very near future, but I fear the wrath of alejandro.

Do any of you realize that U.S. Cellular is not a stand alone company? One that cannot be simply acquired by Verizon or anyone else... USC is owned by Telephone and Data Systems who own several subsidiaries, including a printing company. So, first it would take TDS to be willing to sell the company; and as USC is the cash cow of the TDS corporation, I have a feeling that they would not be so quick to part with their biggest money maker. All these rumors about USC being bought out by Verizon make me sick... you all need to do some research before making up things you have no idea about. the people who perpetrate those rumors like that are the kids who have no friends, so they go into verizon stores when they are bored to ask why there is no verizon in their area and wish that we are going to be purchased because they are tired of driving 50 miles to bother the people in that verizon. And of course that is what every verizon person says to someone who asks when they are going to be in (fill in the blank).

RAZR's were auctioned off as part of USC's United Way campaign to associates and were listed to be shipped in December. The phone is currently under the main testing and should hopefully enter the friendly user trial within the next week or so. From there its usually only about a 3-6 week turnaround before phones are in store.

Thanks. So it sounds like 4 to 8 weeks yet. That would be great.

Hopefully at the most. It would be nice to have this phone in time for Christmas... but January is usually a good month on the sales end due to people spending their Christmas cash, so it wouldn't be sooo bad to have it around the beginning of January.

What crack are you smoking? We've had roaming agreements and such with verizon forever, with not even a sniff of a merger. Sooooo....put the crack pipe down, and step away sloooowwwwwllllyyyy.
