Hmm, reminds me of somebody who buys a toaster because it has a cool design.

"Sure it ruins the toast every time, but man, does it ever get oohs and ahs from my friends."

Based on what I have heard from several friends who left USCC or Verizon to go to Cingular, you are going to wind up with a neat phone and inferior wireless service.

But, we all have our priorities, I guess. Good luck.

Yea....my thoughts exactly. I myself would like to see USCC get the hottest phones and be much quicker with it but I don't think its worth giving up good service for the hottest new phone.

USCC is always a little later with rolling out new stuff but....they are ready when they do.

You're actually willing to pay more for what you admit is inferior service just to get a cooler phone? Does not seem to make a lot of sense. I guess we all have our own priorities. I'm old fashioned I guess; I would never pay MORE to get WORSE service. I don't care how many bells and whistles the phone has, my top priority is getting good, clear phone calls in as many places as possible.

if u don't know it yet, you will in 90 days! the reason they can't even get a decent phone (like the nokia 6255) is because their credit is non-existent. nokia has already shut them off. they won't be in business by next summer.

You are an idiot. U.S. Cellular is going out of business? Is that why their stock has increased by $15.00 in the last year. No other carrier can say that. They must be doing something right. If you want to talk bad credit take a look at the Cingular/AT&T merger as well as the Nextel/Sprint merger. They are going so poorly, not because they are merging different systems, but because all parties involved have horrible credit, and bad debt. They will give a phone to anyone, no matter what their credit score. That is how they has such high numbers for customers. It is easy to gain millions and millions of customers when you will give anyone a phone, including those without jobs, real ethical, don't you think. Moreover, Nextel is almost...

U are so correct and the original posting is incorrect, USCC does not even have a contract with Nokia to make phones because we have used them for so long. We go to them because of the relationship we have had with them throughout time. And being a USCC employee I am very happy that my stock has gone up 23% just since the beginning of the year. But wait isn't that what happens to companies when they go out of business their stock goes up, instead of down? Do your homework and don't talk til u know what you're talking about

You must be about 10 yrs. old one day you will grow up and figure out that reliability and service mean much more than a semi-cool phone that completely sucks when it comes to making or receiving calls! Good luck with cingular when your phone starts dropping calls and all you hear is static don't come back crying here!!!

First, BY LAW they have to let you keep your same number if it is in the same RSA or Region. They use that excuse all the time in North Iowa.

Second, unless you live in a MAJOR city or at a rest area along the interstate, you won't have much for a signal on your cool new phone.

Third - You should have at least 15 - 30 days as a trial period to use the phone and determine that it won't work.

Good luck

well sorry if i made anyone mad, but im actuly happy with cingular, dont get me wrong USCC rocks but i get awesome service where i live and everywhere i go with my nokia cingular phone, pretty much if you have a nokia it dosnt matter what your service is i think. I may not have as many minets but i really dont use many unless its at night. i like the fact that i can get online and just check my mins and txts. i LOVE having a sim card and the ability to take the card out and swtich phones without having to go to a USCC store. and my phone is way better than anything USCC has. USCC would be the best if it just had better phones and the ability to check your statues online. Maybe ill go back someday when they get that stuff figured out, u...

We aren't mad at you, we just think you are being dumb, and immature and are trying to point that out to you before your trial period with Cingular runs out.
Changing carriers for a cooler looking phone that doesn't work is just plain dumb. And saying that as long as you have a Nokia is doesn't matter is dumber- you are going from CDMA to GSM, which is about as big of a change as you can make.
It's obvious you did NO research on coverage, rate plans, etc. We are just trying to do your homework for you.

Rollover minutes? Waht a joke! When do you think you are going to use them? They get taked on to the end of your monthly minute usage. If you never use all of your minutes you will never use your rollover. that Rollover biz is the biggest scam for the normal cellphone user. If they put you on the correct plan in teh first place, you wouldn't ned rollover minutes. The only people who need rollover are heavy users, but then again, if you are continuously going over your minutes and need rollover, you would never have any minutes to rollover to the next month then, would you?

Don't be scammed by Rollover minutes. really think about what you are getting. Nothing.

You are correct Bunkrich. Stick to your guns. A while ago I criticized the Nokia 6255i phone for having NO backlight/keypad lighting options. The phone goes dark in 10 seconds. Period. No way around it. Well, lotsa people criticized me for even WANTING the option to keep the phone lit longer -- you know -- like most phones have 15 seconds - 30 seconds - 1 minute - on flip open. Well, lo and behold, a number of people in the forum started complaining about no lighting options. 🤣

Pardon my ignorance, but let me make sure I'm reading your statement correctly. I would assume that the "little backwater carrier" here is USCC and the "1 of the top 2" is Cingular. Correct??

Backwater carrier? Do your research. In all of markets USCC serves, it uses its own towers. When in a non-USCC market, USCC grabs a Verizon tower 85% of the time and usually Sprint for the other instances. USCC is solid in most of the markets its serves. So, USCC's coverage matches ANY of the national carriers. Period. No roaming charges. No argument.

If you really want to get caught in the hype and want a large carrier to be your provider, then you should seriously consider Verizon as it hands-down beats Cingular in every way. The only thing Cingular offers that is enticing is the RAZR, which is coming out for CDMA.

I came to USCC from Verizon and the service is just as good. And if I had to leave USCC for any reason, then I would go ...

You say potato, I say backwater.

As a matter of fact I live in St. Louis where the new US Cellular market has just been unleashed.
You may be right about it having good coverage as far as it goes, but to be honest with you, I dont care.
It is not the in the same class as Cingular. Riding Verizons coattails into the coverage war does not qualify US cellular as a major player.
Sprint and Nextel arent even in the same league, even merged, and they are heavier hitters than you cats.
But as I said I dont care. I felt like throwing gasoline onto a fire and I am bored with that now. So farewell and adieu

Every cell phone carrier has lots of complainers. Go to Verizon, Sprint, Cingular, US Cell--you name it, some people feel they are getting treated unfairly, or change their mind and want the cellphone carrier to help them out, or get a bad customer service agent.
All companies have their own horror stories about them. None are immune for unsatisfied customers. At every carrier's forum here on phonescoop, there are complaint about their lousy phone selection, their mean customer service, not having valid charges waived.

With other products, if you don't like what you got, you go on to another. You don't like your computer, or car, or toaster, you get a different brand next time. It seems in that with cellphones, it's all very personal...

Now that I've left the major league cell phone companies, Verizon most recently, I'm so happy with my service (and savings) from US Cellular.
The coverage is at least as good as Verizon's, probably even better in the entire Chicago metro area. There's not a big phone selection, but I'm very happy with my LG 6100. I've never had a phone that I liked as much--very stylish, small, easy to use, and great call quality.

I am SO happy so far with the USCC service.

I can't make a simple, positive comment on here without being attacked by some know-it-all with nothing better to do. Just for the record, the LG6100 is smaller than the Moto V710, and the new Nokia 6255 that everyone is so hot for. It's the same size as the Moto V265, which is crap. It's smaller than Verizon's LG 8000, 8100, or Moto E815. If you need a backpack for the LG, I feel very sorry for you. It's a very solid phone that works well, and weighs 3.88 oz. It's people like you who make it so difficult to have a civil discussion that's actually helpful to people.
