Straight from the horse's mouth Gary Forsee has announced Sprint will be reducing 5,000 staff positions to help cut cost within the 1st quarter. I'm definately going to be looking for a new job because unfortunately my area falls into one of the regions that needs reduction.

Yeah and this was sent from one of the other big wigs.

"By the end of 2007, we will have eliminated several hundred of our most poorly performing kiosks and stores."

Now that has me even more worried cause my store has not hit quota in over a year. ☹️

If Sprint actually eliminates all of their poorest selling stores and kiosks, then that just leaves only Radio Shack to sell thier services!

Bad Move. I think Gary Forsee is going to run the carrier into the ground.

Does that include the Radio Shack Sprint kiosks, the Sam's Club Kiosks or the Corporate-owned kiosks?

It is only the corporate stores and corporate kiosks. No third party because these are not owned by Sprint. 😁

I think it was inevitable. It would be the same thing if Verizon did buy alltel. There is a verizon store about a mile from an alltel store. Do you honestly think they will keep it like that. So how many nextel stores are close to sprint ones and vice vs. They are eliminating redundancies and excess. It happens with all mergers.

just to give some information i know a couple of places where there are verizon storeds and kiosks very close to each other, for instance there is a verizon store inside circuit city and another kiosk inside BJ's Wholesale Club in the same stripmall in College Point, NY.

And if I had to guess neither are company owned or they get money from BJ's and Circuit City! I am talking about actual stores owned or leased by the Company!

I work in a Sprint kiosk in the Baltimore area. All of our kiosks are in malls, and I believe ALL of the kiosks have a Sprint store, either third party or Corporate, PLUS a Radio Shack, PLUS the kiosk in the Mall. Being it is Sprint has nothing to do with it. We also have a third party dealer that looks like a regular Sprint store about two minutes away from the Mall I work at. All the cell phone companies do it. Verizon is not special in this regard.

This the reason i jumped ship on April 2005 and went to VZW. i still have a few friends who work at sprint but all of my nextel friends (about 9) have jumped ship to vzw already. its going to be more then 5000 and the in sales channels are goin to feel like Esp. old nextel emplys.

Everything in life is temporary it sucks sometimes but it will be OK. When one door closes another will open. Good luck to anyone who has to roll with these punches.
