Corpsman-Up

They said that they couldn't see the tower down on their system and said they were sry. They offered me a discount and free phone if I was to come back, what do you think?

Judging by your attitude in the past...

Nevermind, I'll bite my tongue.

If Sprint's so horrible (as you've said numerous times in the past week, here and in the VZW forums), why would you even consider it?

oh and you can guarantee that too huh!! I think I remember just last month my mom who has verizon was down for a day!! Their tower went down figure that. Verizon's unbreakable hardware as you would lead people to believe since they must use hardware from god actually broke. All seriousness now hardware breaks you can't avoid that!!! Get over your feeling that verizon is perfect!

heres what i think about that:

thier systems went down. it happens. with any network, its possible to have problems.
they called you to make an apology for the issue, and offer you a discount and a free phone in an effort to mend the issue as best they can.
(since they wont be able to go back and change whats already happened, they only have control of what happens next. Sprint obviously values you as a customer, otherwise they would have simply let you walk away with no questions asked. trust me, providers have customers that are more trouble than theyre worth, and when they leabe, they are glad to see them go.)
no wireless company is going to be able to gaurantee that they will be able to provide you with service 100% of the time,...

Amen to all that! I couldn't have said it better myself. I too have been very tough on Sprint in this forum (others as well), but, you hit the nail right on the head.

I am a Nextel customer, and although I'm very disappointed they plan on shutting down IDEN (maybe not, we'll see what happens), my experience has been since the merger of seeing my monthly bill go down and my number of free minutes go up.

Verizon is a more reliable wireless network than Sprint, but as I posted and re-posted several times, what real difference does that make anyway? What works best for you personally and gives you what you need is the "best" wireless provider you can have. And THAT'S a guarantee!

Consumer Reports, J.D. Powers and Associates both rate Verizon overall as their top choice. Maybe you disagree, but that's what THEY say anyhow.

Verizon won't get a signal where I work, so it's not the "best" for me. As you pointed out, SprintNextel has a much larger footprint than VZW does, so you have a much larger free M2M calling AREA than with Verizon.

Most folks I know with Verizon really like it, although I still say they're too pricey and not worth the extra ten bucks a month. Like yourself, I've had very few problems with my (Nextel) service. I have no desire whatsoever to change. My bill has never been wrong, and I've dropped maybe 3 or 4 calls in four years.

I use those reports for toilet paper. They are useless. I have never said sprint is better. Its all about what you like. I am tired of people saying stuff with no facts just to start crap!

Yes I did. It was posted for a debate. I said it looks like it is as I was comparing their maps! And I was wanting a nice debate and back and forth dialog. You don't get that here you get its the network. Or verizon is god. NO facts whatsoever. I don't know I even expected a adult like conversation on it. People kill me with their defense of a carrier! I just like to debate things . Never once said one was better then the other!

O.k., I was wondering if I remembered that post correctly or not. Didn't want to misquote someone.

I think coverage does matter, especially where you're going to use it most. Verizon is going the way of Cingular in that they are going all-digital not only in their own network, but in their roaming as well.

I still believe analog backup is important. This has been my number one and one of the very few complaints I've had with Nextel. Analog is everywhere, even more so than CDMA. Until wireless carriers can provide THAT level of coverage (that's offered by analog roaming), I think it needs to continue to remain an option, myself.

Sprint seems to be very concerned with coverage, more so I think than even Verizon, and coverage matters,...

I see your point however analog is going away and soon. Its just like analog cable it is going away. They can fit 6 digital channels in the bandwidth of one analog channel Or 2 HD Channels. Its the same with wireless.

Yeah, I'll still take it for as long as it's available. I wonder if there will be dual mode CDMA GSM phones to use HERE in the future?

For one, excellent post. For two, your name kicks ass. River City Ransom is probably the most underrated NES game ever made. I really hope it ends up on the Wii's Virtual Console at some point... Did you play the GBA remake?
