No, you can't get out of it for free, you signed a contract and you have a year remaining.

And yes, they will cancel the account if you talk to account services. No need to make up stories.

Seeing how sprint's 1st class customer service can't handle a simple task, you could always port your number to VZW which in effect should cancel your sprint service.

Then you get to deal with uppity reps who are more concerned with denying assistance to inflate the "bonus" checks. And welcome to crappy UI and limited "unlimited" data services. Touche Fanboy, touche.

Oh, and should we head over to the Verizon forums and browse through the heaps of "CS Horror Story" threads? Your precious company isn't perfect either. Get off your high horse.

You're obviously a moron, I'm not the one sitting here defending a cellular company. Have a nice day and don't forget to wear your helmet before you leave the house today.

I know I hurt your feelings, it's ok though. I'm sure your parents still...kinda love you.

For my feelings to actually have been hurt I would have first had to believe your mindless outburst and second of all care. It's not that serious buddy.

Serious enough for you to come trolling in a Sprint forum evidently.

My original post was to assist one of your former customers with an option, seeing how they weren't getting any help from sprint. Which was also evident by yours and the other responses. Last time I checked the forum were suppose to be for helping people. So nice response genius.

Well truly there's no way for you or I or anyone else for that matter to know the truth other than the original poster. I simply posted an option for them as something that may or may not be helpful in their situation. Nothing more, nothing less; and I'll leave it at that.

oh come on. I would love to hear that conversation.

Guy - shut my phone off!!!!
Sprint- no we won't we will just keep crediting you until your contract is up.

They will shut it off as you ask no questions asked. And you will get a nice bill with the etf in it!

That is true. Porting is a way to not only keep your number, but to cancel w/o dealing w/ the carrier that you're leaving. But just as an FYI nextel850, you will be charged an ETF. Unless you have evidence of moving some place where they have NO coverage (and I don't mean bad coverage, someplace where their maps show NO COVERAGE) then there's no way to avoid the ETF.

Just got to a store or dealer. Seeing that you're having such a "problem," they can get you through to cancellations... But you're going to be charged the early termination fee.

The no coverage thing doesn't work anymore. So many people were abusing it that they will just let you roam all the time now. With the agreements they have with Alltel and USCC it doesn't surprise me that they took this stance. There is no way to avoid the ETF, except finishing the contract. You signed a legal and binding contract and now you want to break it so you have to pay. That is pretty much the way they look at it and the law looks at it. If you really want to leave just pay the ETF and be done with it. I really feel sorry for you having to deal with Verizon as I found them to be even worse then Sprint. Good luck with the V.
