Music on my A920

Sykes

Ok, I have a question for everyone. I have an A920 and have been transferring some music off of my computer onto my memory card in order to play it on my phone. There is one song in specific that I am having difficulties with. It is the proper format, mp3, and plays on my computer while on the memory card. To confuse things even more, it shows up on my memory card, but when I try to play it nothing happens. So, my question is this. What do I need to do to get it to play on my phone? Is there an update or a setting that I can change on my phone or on the mp3 itself. Please help because this is a song that will not be on the Sprint Music Store. Thanks.

What song is it you are having the technical challenges with and where did you get it?

The song is an mp3 of a college fight song. I got it from a website. With football season starting today I wanted to have it on my phone. Like I said, it plays perfectly on my computer both on and off of the memory card. But when I play it on the phone, there is no sound.

Send me an e mail with the song attached and let me see what happens when I try to play it on my Samsung A920.

Try loading other MP3's onto your phone. If other MP3's play on your phone, then its not the phone itself, therefor there wouldnt be any settings you could change (note: there arent any settings you could change anyways; at least none that i know of). If the file plays on your computer, but is not able to be played on the device, it seems most likely that it is a corrupt file.
Trial and Error. Good luck!

Here is where things get more weird. I took my memory card and put it in my friends Fusic. The song played perfectly. I tried renaming the file before putting it back on my phone and it made no difference.

The song in question is a college fight song, which I was wanting to have on my phone prior to the start of college football season. Here is the link for the file.

It can also be found here by clicking on Miami University.

Thanks for all of your help.

I dunno man, try DLing it directly from sprint to see if it works.

Its only 2.50 and could provide the solution you seek.

Good luck! 😁

I would if Sprint had it. That would have been the first thing that I tried.

try increasing the bit rate

it's only 16k

try 128k since that one is so standard

if I were you, I'd try finding it somewhere else

The MP3 file was at an unacceptably low sample rate for the A920. I converted it to an AIF file with SoundStudio on the Mac, then reconverted it back to a better quality MP3. This one should work for you:

Thats awesome! I will try to put it on my phone tomorrow when I get back to my computer with the memory card reader. I'll report back once I put it back on there. Thanks.

so the question is this. there are several other songs that I have off of my comptuer that never even show up on my 920 screen when I am in my music list. However they show up on my buddies Fusic. I checked and they are all mp3's. You guys are all smarter at this than I am. Its really not that big of a deal, but I figured since we were sucessfull in fixing my main issue, we might be able to explain this one and maybe point me in the right direction to correct it.

I'll bet the ID3 tags need to be shortened (or simplified, if non-alpha chars were used). You can find ID3 tag editors for MP3 files by searching Google.

I'm glad the fix worked. I'll take down that file from the server now.
