How to block calls

Hi there. I am wondering if anybody knows of ways to block incoming calls by phone number. I have already set a specific ringtone for a company that calls me everyday to bug me about a bill which is in dispute. I ignore the call. But even this is getting to be annoying. They use the same number all the time, so by blocking that number, I will be free of this for a while, at least. Is this possible at all at the phone level, or maybe even at the Sprint systems level???

I have a Samsung VI660. On an unrelated note, I am considering switching to another carrier, or staying with Sprint and getting a new phone.

Thanks!

It's not possible at the sprint systems level, but at the phone level it is possible with some phones. You can set the phone to make or recieve calls from everyone, only from people in your phone book, or only from up to 3 special numbers you set. The special numbers can be set through the security menu under settings. In order to restrict calls on your phone, go to settings > others > restriction. In both cases, you need to enter the security code which is defaulted to either the last four of the account holder's SSN, or the last four of the phone number unless of course you reset it. All the phones have different capabilities with the restriction, though, so I'm unsure as to the specifics of your phone.

As far as getting a new phone goe...

If your phone does not support the restriction SavageAce mentioned you can also save the phone number in question to your phone book, set the name as something like Do Not Answer or whatever, and most phones allow you to set different ring tones for phone book entries. Just sit it to not use any ring tone or something like that so you can ignore the number without being bothered.

Oh, and I would definitely recommend getting a newer phone. The 660 does not hold a candle to any newer phone. You'll get better reception besides many other improvements.

Ever consider actually answering the phone call and perhaps working with the company to resolve the bill in dispute?

If so and that was unfruitful, you can always answer the phone and inform them that you have tried to settle the dispute unsuccessfully so far (depending on nature of dispute), and that any further phone calls will be regarded as telephone harassment for which you will try to press charges.

I'd suggest working out the dispute instead of just ignoring the call, however, harassment is harassment.

If you are in the process of paying a bill, as in I'll pay half today and half on the first. They still call everyday, even when you have paid half. It gets really bothersome. Especially when you are trying to work things out.

The Do not answer thing works well, I have a ring tone on my phone that yells "DO NOT ANSWER" when they call me.

write a letter, send it CERTIFIED MAIL and tell them to contact you ONLY VIA MAIL AND NOT TO CALL YOU ANYMORE and they should stop. of course, keep one for yourself as well as the receipt where they signed for it...if they call again, see an attorney.
