Like to break the law, get a Sprint phone.

Read the article. The reps whom the authorities dealt with didn't do what they were supposed to. Blame the reps for that, not the company.

Yeah that is one person who probably got caught off gaurd and didn't want to mess something up...One rep is not the whole company...

That goes for any business...

Actually its just the opposite. This was a shortened article that doesn't have all the details. Sprint has a standard form that they require from any LE agency to use if they don't have a subpoena. All Sprint is looking for is an agency letterhead via fax requesting the service.

This agency thought they were above Sprint's requirements when actually Sprint is doing the right thing by requiring it for privacy concerns. It was the agency that was at fault here and not Sprint.

Sprint responded appropriately in Riverside, Calif., carjacking 01/12/2006

A carjacking that occurred in Riverside, Calif., more than three weeks ago has thrust Sprint into the national spotlight because of initial reports that we were not cooperative in helping track the car (with a Sprint phone in it) using global positioning satellite (GPS) technology. A 10-month-old, who was later found safely, was in the car.

However, the Riverside sheriff's department said in a Tuesday hearing that they do not blame Sprint.

Within the last two weeks, local and national media have picked up on the story. Emotions are high, and the parents of the child have spoken negative...

(sorry, stupid co-worker clicked submit before I finished.) If this had been at a gas station and someone locked the dog in he car to run in for a candy bar then PETA would be outraged.
