Where did you hear that???? That is so weird that they are already discounting the handset at the end of 2005.

I heard that too. They will not sell well when we do have them. They are to pricey for what they do. I am surprised the A800 has been around as long as it has been

As I heard it, some regions got the the 9000, and some got the 940, due to limited availability of both, which, of course, is due to the fact that phones have been out for less than a month.

I disagree that the phones are too pricey for what they do. How many phones, from any carrier, with a 2MP camera are out there? How many for less than $300 with activation?

The 9000 is a bit steep for having "just" a 1.3, but you have to also consider all the other stuff that it does. It stacks up nicely against similar phones from Cingular, which does put it on the expensive side, but not that much....and how many phones out there have QVGA screens? UNless you move into the PDA phones, not very many.

If you check out the forums, everybody wh...

Someone else has posted a request for some sort of proof...I admit it is possible, but there are alternate, IMO more reasonable, explanations for the only things you have listed as "proof" of your assertion (availability of the phones)

web site links, press releases, that sort of thing would be welcome... 😈

Do you think the reason for this might be the imminent arrival of the Blade? Putting all the neat gadgety features aside, Sprint doesn't have a flip phone with Bluetooth (except for the a940). So for those of us who look at phone features first and multimedia features second, the Blade seems to be our saving grace. (my .02!)

Not to say they are overpriced for what they do, it has been my experience that most people who like the phones with higher functionality are willing to pay a little more and get a treo or a smart phone, and not a multi-media phone. The 5600, 535 and the A800 are the same the price jump is about $75 from the mid grade phone, and not many more features.

From the 299.99 for the 8300 to 429.99 for the 5600 just for a memory card slot is to much for most people.

I know not everyone will agree with my opinion, but a flip/rotate phone with bluetooth (not the crippled verizon kind), 2 MP camera w/ 2x OPTICAL zoom, hi-res screen, microSD card, media player (multimedia is amazing in EV-DO areas), tons of storage memory, EV-DO, and ALOT! of small things that by themselves don't amount to much but combined is really nice (such as motion sensor, different menu graphics, voice sms input, voice dialing without any preprogramming, stereo speakers and headset and included USB cable) is honestly worth the $399.99 price tag.

I wouldn't have bought the 940 if it wasn't.

And besides the Blade, there won't be a comparable phone for a while in Sprint's lineup.

Why would the A940 be discontinued when it just came out this month? And could you please tell me what EV-DO is? I bought the 940 last week and love it, with one exception...the battery life stinks! Is there anything I can do to make it last longer. I tried turning off the bluetooth and using the headset, but that didn't help alot. I returned a lg-325 because the battery life sucked, and then I have the same problem with this phone...but this is a "lexus" compared to the LG, so I will probably keep it.
