Indeed.
I'll do my part: you know, I'm a big bundled-services kind of guy. I see most of the people in these forums couldn't give a hoot nor do they even grasp the BIGness of it. I was wondering what Sprint will do, they have Sprint stores in areas (cities) that have them as CLECs where they sell wireline, wireless (PCS), & satellite bundles. All supposed bundled-service billing. How does this affect the alignment established with the big name cable companies? Why the hel* is there no combined billing for people on the Nextel side with, well, anything?
I'm one of the few people who also still have wireline service (with Sprint) and intend to keep it for a time due to kids, rather have them on that than buy more cellphones....

thanks for you donation π . hopefully sprint really claims their nextel customers. if so then you should be covered.

I don't think so. I think when Jan '06 comes around and the cable cos are pushing Sprint, the Nextel subscribers won't be able to be added on or receive bundle discounts, etc...

Diversification of product(s) between Sprint & Nextel. Because of Nextel's exclusivity of Motorola (because of obvious reasons) phones, how does this hurt/help sales? For all intents and purposes the Moto/Nextel/iDEN phones are solid, durable, work horses. I can't imagine a redneck hick in my area w/o one strapped to his belt. Sprint on the other hand offers more of a designer phone concept. I'm sorry but I think in the end (even though I am a proponent of Nextel) this might hurt all around.
...
it just may still hurt you. get out now while you can. sprints a more fashion savy company and nextel's a more ruggedized manly man phone company.
sprint will have some rugged looking phones i.e. sanyo rl-4930 but as far as actual durability i don't know or even think so.
hope this helps.
p.s. i can tell you from experience if it doesn't feel right to you staying leave while you can.

BLADE vs RAZR
What's the point of the Samsung Blade coming out if it's not going to compete head-on with the RAZR. In other words, the RAZR has been out for a while, it premiered with some exuberant price tag only afforded to the executives or wanna-be's. Okay it's been out for a while now, the price has gone down and even the refined versions are coming out pricing themselves not much more than the original. Having waited this long to release a formiddable contender (Samsung Blade that is) does it make sense to sell it for $499 with 2-year contract at this point?
...
i would curse but i'd be reported so i'll edit it.
hhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeecccccccccck kkkkkkkkkk no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
i would tell no one to buy it for 2 months then watch the price drop like a hooker in the alley to it's knees in "2 months".
the people who pay that much will have 2 do the most warranty exchanges ever. due to the fact that they just couldn't wait till they worked the kinks and bugs out of it.
...
dcaNov 16, 2005, 4:33 PM
It wouldn't matter, it could be discontinued for three weeks and RadioShack would still have it on their shelves for $499 w/ 2-year activation... Kind of like the Sanyo 5600...
...
go to a cheaper 3rd party then like a wal-mart. not 100% sure they are gettin it but they should and they sell the rokr and other high-end phones dirt cheap. just their reps are "LOST" so u maybe outta luck if you go to them for help π

The splash screens when you open your phone on the Nextel side of things? I would've thought part of the initial rollout of the merger would've been having a Nextel phone say Sprint when you look at the screen? Kind of like how certain markets get that annoying, "please hold while the Sprint (which used to say Nextel) customer you are trying to reach..."

i know that sucks. i have to admit when my v505 with at&t started saying cingular i was a little pissed but that's what change is all about.

Not exactly. Just for $hit$ and giggles here is why.
a few post a day will keep the sprint forum okay!!!!!
Though very cute and thoughtful it doesn't require any thought to understand nor answer because it is not a question. Riddles usually are questions that require an answer.
(ie) (Q) What always ends everything?
(A) the letter G
Riddle (n) A question or statement requiring thought to answer or understand.
Rhyme (n) Correspondence of terminal sounds of words or of lines of verse. A poem or verse having a regular correspondence of sounds, especially at the ends of lines.
This is all in fun. You did say you wanted posts!!! π

Ok so I just recieved my 4930s and I am pretty excited. Sad because I am not going to get any 9000 so I just should be happy I recieved something.
Haven't played with it but it seems pretty cool. I am just hoping everyone else with think the same and buy it.
Any feed back on them yet!!!
...
are the 9000s really going to be discontinued?
i would love to have that on my dealer plan.
...
whats up with that post?
...
let the donations continue please!!!!!!!!!!
due to the unsuccessfullness in willing forum members (besides the 4 of us that did) to post to this thread and forum (or donate to it's askings) which are dedicated to saving the SPRINT forum and keeping it alive will be canceled if we dont get enough donations. leaving this forum to have the look and feel of the TRACFONE or any of the regional carrier forums, just plain empty.
for those that want that, so be it. for those that don't DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT and POST!!!
until next time, for only a few SOLID post or threads a day you can save sprints forum from being another lost forum.
goodbuy,

You know, I still think Phonescoop should just consolidate the Sprint & Sprint together with Nextel forums just for posterity.

i asked that to rich, and he mentioned that since they offer 2 seperate networks and phone portfolios it is a little bit difficult..

were gettin a lil more of a turnout.
lets kick it up a knotch............bam! bam! bam!!!!!

Sprint could nip this with the bundled service/integrated billing agreements (possible agreements) arranged with pretty much all the major cable carriers. How this will affect their agreement(s) with Dish Network being sold through their 'Sprint Stores', I dunno'.
The only thing left they could do is perhaps (I know it's unheard of through a Teir 1 carrier) offer a regional unl voice plan for say $45, $49, or even $59 like some of the smaller regionals (Tier 3) do, ie: metroPCS, I believe... I know Sprint is hitting the heck out of data with all the new power-vision, vision, whatever mobile TV offerings but there are still a lot of old-timers just interested in voice...
...
"Sprint could nip this with the bundled service/integrated billing agreements (possible agreements) arranged with pretty much all the major cable carriers"
your late my friend.. lol..
they already signed a big deal with comcast, timewarner, cox communications and advance/Newhouse.

Yes, but how involved are the bundled services? For instance, with Brighthouse networks, you start with digi-cable (vs standard which is only $5/mo cheaper), then add high-speed RR, then add a DVR, then add broadband phone, etc, etc. Each time you add or buy a bundled package you receive "discounts" on each service. Where will this leave SprintPCS? I guess we won't know till Jan 2006 or there-abouts...
...
well, i explained this in the other forum, but this is mainly how it works..
i will just basically explain what i said in the other forums please bare with me becuase it is quite a lot.. lol.
The joint venture, which is mutually exclusive for three years and has
a 20-year term, will require a $100 million contribution from SN and a $100
million contribution from the cable consortium to fund the development,
marketing and back office integration of the services which are expected to
be available in the second half of 2006. Sprint Nextel and the cable
companies will each keep the revenues associated with their own products
and will receive a commission for signing up customers on the otherβs
network. Further, the cable operators ...

that's great...thanks...
...
no problem..
do you understand it?
...
dcaNov 18, 2005, 2:53 PM
Sure. The only one that would affect me is how the bundles will be done with Brighthouse Networks...
...
not sure about that... i am sure its the same way with the other companies...
futher along i will give an update.
...
dcaNov 18, 2005, 3:00 PM
...cool...
...
does this mean sprint products and services are cheaper with the bundels? or does it just mean a discount on monthly service?
...
well i cant speak directly to prices, but generally when you get bundles they are a little bit cheaper then when you get them individually.
futher down the road i will start to discuss the price points, but as of right now, i am not allowed to.

i understand. your secret is safe with me π

SPRINT BOUGHT ALAMOSA!!!!!
...
That news blew my mind. We're in an Alamosa market here. It would be amazing if everything works out so that we get all of the same stuff as Sprint corporate markets. Am I excited? You bet. Only downside is that Alamosa gives some really nice rebates on phones. We'll just have to wait and see how things play out.
