Samsung SPH-A760 / RL-A760
I am going to re-post the question - Surely someone has experience with this phone???? I asked Sprint and (of course) there are no issues...

I am really interested in the Samsung SPH-A760 / RL-A760. I have read the reviews here on PhoneScoop and others (C|Net, etc...) and have not found a great deal of information. There are only 5 reviews of this phone on PhoneScoop and is receiving a less than stellar rating. Due to the low number of reviews, I am still considering the phone as it has all the features I require and no camera (can't have at the day job...).

I'm an Assistant Manager at a local Sprint Store and I have some experience with the RL-A760. My personal opinion which I recommend to all of my customers is that for functionality and features (ie. Ready Link, Vision, Speakerphone) why not go with the Sanyo 2300. It has better sound quality and if for nothing else Sanyo won JD powers best in overall customer satisfaction.
Don't get me wrong, the A760 is a great handset but you'll walk away spending less money and getting a better handset.

Thanks so much for the reply! Yes, I had looked at the sanyo's and my wife has an 8200 which she loves. I was able to go to the Sprint store and play with them all. I think I am going to give the A760 a try, the dealbreaker was the voice dialing. Samsung's is the best and it doesn't need to be trained. I used it when my N400 was new, but is was too picky because of recording you own voice and you are limited by the phone's memory.

Just as a heads up, I work for a Sprint Store. There have been alot of 760's returned due to echoes during conversation, and less than stellar reception. Hope it doesn't happen to you.

i agree the samsung is definately the most advanced when it comes to voice activation but the down side is it taked like 3-5 comands to dial one voice dial. i think i perfer the old kind oyu had to train because i push the button say the name and it is dialed! much quicker then the samsung
another really cool feature with the sanyo if you set the tinger as rint and voice it will play any voice dial as the ringer. very cool feature

I agree that the sanyo Voice dial - ringer feature is cool..Wife used it for a time.
As for the number of commands, here is what I want to do:
Set the "Flip open" feature for the Voice command menu.
Then wear a headset with the On/Off button (equals flip open)
Press button - "Command Please"
me - Voice dial
Who do you wanna call?
Home....etc...
I don't mind the extra voice steps as I drive a convertible with a five speed and just don't wanna take the hands off the wheel / shifter.
I will watch out for the possible echoing problem. However the demo in the store seemed to be fine. Every once in a while my N400 would to that, but rarely. Connection issue? I live in the shadow of a tower so the signal strength is top notc...
