Exchanging phone ?

I am planning on returning my Blackberry 8530 for the Palm Pre. I purchased the BB on the day it was released through Sprint.com, so I'm still in my 30 day window. The problem I am having is where can I return it to do the exchange? I was told in two local Sprint stores that it would have to be done over the phone through customer service. But the customer service reps told me no, it could be done through my local store.

Anyone here able to help me out. Can I go the store route or should I just exchange over the phone? TIA

it all depends on the way you paid for it. If you paid with a card, then take it to the store and let the reps know you don't want to be charged again for the device. If you billed the phone to your account then have it exchange through customer ). The reason why is if you billed the phone to the account, you will be charged for the new device (PRE) and having the exchange done through CS(telesales) you get your credit as soon as you mail back the phone BUT when you do the exchange IN store it takes 2-3 billing cycles for you to receive credit for the device. Just keep in mind either options there is a $35 restock fee to even do the exchange. That is the new policy and there is NO way around that.

Thanks for the response. Can you tell me an easy way to get it done over the phone? My husband spent over an hour last night trying to get the phone swapped with customer care last night only to get the runaround. When he finally got through to someone, (his 6th rep) the call got disconnected.

Is there a department he should ask for right at the start of the call?

no it will not take 2-3 cycles to see the credit for the handset. you will pay the difference of the price in store and the restocking fee but that is all. any corporate store should be able to handle this.

I don't have a corporate store close to me, so they told me it would have to be done over the phone. Which I'm fine with, it just appears that no one over the phone knows how to help me. They just keep transferring to this department then another one. Very frustrating.
