I ported to Sprint from at&t in the interest of saving money...I know a few ppl with sprint and have had no problems in my home or in the surrounding areas. I bought all 3 of my lines from a Radio Shack because they have the lowest prices in my town. I used to be a cell phone rep and am very literate when it comes to phns...but this bb is making me crazy...
I went from an 8900 with att to a tour...not a big difference...but the problems i am having no one can answer...this is day 3 I am trying to get my phn to function...AT ALL. It has been swapped once, so I know it has to be the service or the way the rep programed the phone.
Next to the service bars it 1X or 1XEV...I was told that I need the 1XEV in upper or lower case in order for m...

anyone else want to field this one? your model of phone does not dictate the coverage... your provider sets up the cell towers and the location of said towers dictates your coverage.

go here:

http://coverage.sprint.com/IMPACT.jsp?language=EN »

type in your address and zipcode or what have you and

i apologize in advance if it turns out sprint is not the best match for you

if you are in coverage area (3g mind you not roaming or standard wireless service like I think your phone is indicating) than the problem most likely is the phone itself... but given what you've written it's a coverage issue which means it won't matter what phone you get it seems like sprint might not meet your needs at this time

Also, I did just check the coverage and it states that my address is in the dark green area which indicated Great service 😕

Blackberry Tours have to provision over the air. The phone can't be manually programmed. I will provide you with a number to call. Most likely they will have you do a hard reset and have the phone provision correctly. Sending the number to you via pm.

The Tour and Web OS handsets need to be activated OTA. If the Tour or WebOS handsets are manually programmed for activation, the phone will not work or work properly. A reset needs to be performed.

Neither phone was programed ota...everything was manually done...either by myself or the rep at the store. I have done a few hard resets...It has been over 24hrs now since my swap and icons are still showing up...I cannot send pics @ all...I was told it might need a software upgrade??? I will be taking it in tomorrow to see what can be done...I do wish to ditch my bb...I am a bb girl and am hold out that it is just a quick fix...Thank you for all of your info...it was very helpful!!!!

So youre not receiving any calls at all? The phone normally programs OTA (Over The Air) but if it fails it can be manually programmed. If it does have service, go to Manage Connections, Mobile Network Options, then hit the Menu key, and Update profile. If that updates successfully, then you should be able to send and receive pictures. Hope this helps! Keep us updated, im checking every hour to see if you post a new reply and offer my help 😉

Also, has the AT&T port gone thru successfully? What other problems are you having?

That is what I am questioning. The port can at some times take more time than expected.
