SERO Plan Phone Upgrade Questions

I have a phone on a SERO account that is due for an upgrade. I have a couple of questions though. Is it true that you can not have an Instinct S30 on a SERO line? If so, are there any other phones that have that restriction? Lastly, can a corporate Sprint store perform an upgrade on a SERO line, or do I have to call telesales? I seem to remember that we could not when I worked for Sprint.
Thanks for the help,
JM

Hi JM,

From just the little info I looked up for you the instinct and the palm pre are not able to go on sero plans. You have to switch to regular consumer to use those.

I couldn't find anything about where to upgrade. My opinion is that you should be able to upgrade over the phone or in store any place. The account is on a retention plan but still ran under your ss# and such so it's not an employee account anymore. We work on retention plans here and its no different. There isn't any documents that I have seen that say you can only upgrade through employee phone programs so if it was me I would just stop into a local store or call telesales.

Yes you can upgrade in any corporate store. If you have the $30 SERO plan, you can still upgrade and keep the same plan. The only thing, is that plan is no longer available. SO, if you upgrade to something like a Blackberry, Instinct, Palm Pre, you NEED to upgrade your plan to the "new" SERO plans, which are pretty much the same thing for double the price. Current plans are $60 for 500 minutes, unlimited data, text etc. So yes you CAN upgrade, just have to change the plan if you get the Pre, Instinct, or any BlackBerry

Are you talking about the Treo Pro or the upcoming Android devices?

Most likely the Android devices. Grandfathered plans make the company very little (if any money), so on the devices they heavily subsidize (new smartphones/high end phones) they require current plan pricing.

The Android phones will be a totally new OS to sprint. I don't see them making a phone with the demand that phone will have "backwards compatible" with older low/no profit plans.

From what I've read about the SERO plans (I don't work for sprint, so I could be wrong) they are like the old Digital Choice/America's Choice plans verizon used to offer. On those lines, you can basically only activate basic phones, and a couple of the older "smartphones."

yeah I was talking about the Android devices. Phones like that will require the newer SERO plans or Everything Data. Still a good plan if you compare it to other networks 😉

I was just being nice.
He was talking about an old plan - it states right in the document:
"Note: SERO rate plans are NOT compatible with the Samsung Instinct or the Palm Pre. If you have one of these devices, the best plan options are
the Everything Plus Data rate plans."

I wrote what I found about the sero plan and it was my opinion as stated. So I don't see a problem with that or a need to be rude. Also, I don't know what KMS is nor do I have access to it. I can access iconnect and that is where I found my information in the SERO plan documents.
