Using phone to call ISP's

Is there anything 'illegal' or wrong about using your cell phone to call to an ISP using your plan minutes? Is there anything in Sprint contracts that specifically prohibits it's use? In other words, if I call an ISP in the evening it is free then, right?

Do you have vision? If you do there is clause that says the unlimited vision is withing reason and they determine how much usage that is. So you can but they may start charging you per kb if you use it to much. Also I heard they charge .25cents per minute if they detect a foreign device used for calling ISP's. Just thought i let you know that also.

it depends on what kind of phone you have if it is a 2g phone then you can place data calls all it does it uses your plan mins. if you have a 3g phone sprint offeres 3 phone as modem packages if you do not have a phone as modem package it charged you qwireless web min roughly .40$ a min. if oyu do have the phone as modem package it does not charge you any mins at all.

How much does the 'phone as modem' package cost? What are my options there? Thanks.

the phone as modem package runns pritty much the exact same as the connecion cards 40-80$/mo. since that is really what you are looking for.

i would recomend the connection card because it does not tie up your phone line and also because you do not have any hassel of cords or the volnerablity of bluetooth

how ever that would be an additional line you would have to buy a second device and dependingon your credit may require another deposit or you may not be elligable for an additional line in which case go with the phone as mobem

To my knowledg, the 'phone-as-modem' packagees are no longer available? From what I have heard Sprint has pulled these in favor of the new connection cards. They want you to pay more money to have online access.

I just got a data cable and to be honest, works pretty darn good. But I'm afraid to replace it as my internet access provider since I have heard horror stories about people who use it and get charged exhorbitant amounts of money for overuse. They list it under 'casual web access'.

I don't understand it since you're paying the extra $15/mo to have the web! Whether or not you choose to use it on your computer or not should be up to you, but Sprint doesn't see it that way.

the phone as a modem packages were just brought back within the ladst year.

the badwidth that your phone usses when it runs it's web browser is far different then what oyur computer can use. this is why you pay more. your computer monopolizes much more of the bandwidth then your phone browser. it only makes since that if you do that you pay more.

Yes, but what I'm saying is that for the $15 you pay for the 'unlimited PCS vision' if you choose to use a "tethered" (via cable to your computer) connection they do not support that. Matter of fact, from what I've heard it is against their policy to do so, and they can slam you if you use it "excessively" (from what I heard more than 1GB/mo.)

To me this doesn't make sense, but like I said they are favoring the connection cards. I don't understand what modem packages there are available other than the connection cards?
