Lotus or PRE

Okay so I need some advice.
I want a new phone (have the old rumor)
I know everything there is to know (so far) about the pre, and I know the lotus pretty well (friend has one).
The PRE is the obvious choice here, but I'm impatient and don't know what I'm going to be willing to pay for a new phone, and anyone that's heard about the PRE can tell its not gonna be cheap.
So I'm lookin for advice. Wait for the PRE and get a monumental phone, or stick to the basics, get my upgrade now, and get the lotus?

Just wait and get the Pre. Nothing is more annoying than when customers get upset because they want the hottest new phone, and are not eligible for an upgrade, and wont pay full price. We had this issue tenfold with the damn Instinct. So since you are aware of the Pre, just do us all a favor and wait on it

lol I hear ya on that one. Being CCARE for AT&T I feel your pain on the upgrade junkies.
However if I got involved in the Lotus I wouldn't upgrade again when the pre came out, I would keep it for the full 18 months until I was elig again then once again assess the idea of new phones.
And I don't see too many people with the Instinct, was it that big of a hassel?

yes it was, and sorry to come off so harsh. We had the same issue with the Touch Pro. We get some complaint like "yeah how you offer it to new customers at a discount but those that been with you for years cant get it at the discount price." never mind they upgraded 3 months ago.

I hate it when the Bobs out there think that just cuz they have a few years teanure they can get as many discounted phones as they want every year just cuz something bigger and better comes out. Sigh...

AMEN!!! Customers think that if they've been with the company for a few years WE owe them the most expensive phones for free. AND THEY JUST UPGRADED!!!!!

Back to the original question...
I would wait for the Pre as well just to see if you're gonna like it. I believe it's gonna be sweet because Palm has always made a good product. Also, the Lotus will be around still when the Pre comes out so if you don't like the Pre the Lotus is a good fall back.

I have the Lotus and love it. Great phone. Either way you go you'll probably be happy! 😎

Thanks for the imput but in this situation "seeing if I'm going to like it" doesn't really apply. I've seen the specs, I've watch CES2009, and I read Rich's review. I KNOW I'll like the PRE, I KNOW its a monumental phone, I just don't know if its worth waiting plus paying out a ton of money.
And what all do you use the lotus for? Does it seem to handle your normal usage often? How easy is messaging? What would you have to say about it that is negetive?

I use it for everything! And by everything I mean text, web, email, navigation, youtube, myspace, aim, camera, etc. Not to mention sprint tv and music which I haven't used yet!

Texting is super easy and I love the setup. I like that it saves messages as conversations. (yea I know, all phones do that by now).

The only thing I've found that I don't like is that it won't download all attachments from my email. But I understand why it doesn't since it's not a PDA.
