Stop telling people you will sell the 800w to them!!!
Yesterday, I called one of our local sprint stores about the Treo 800w...They said "Sure, come on down we have it"...I get down there, they get it IN FRONT OF ME, start to get it entered into the system, then they go into the back, come back 2-3 minutes later phone no longer with them and give me the "sorry, we can't sell it until the 13th"...
I called another local store ... Same thing...
Today I called another one, told them of the two previous stores experience, I get "naa, we can do it come on down", I get down there and THEY DID IT AGAIN!!!
I have a buddy on the east coast and a buddy in California BOTH BOUGHT IT YESTERDAY AND HAVE IT IN HAND NOW.
Looking around online on the phone sites, a bunch of people have been able to...

I do apologize for the miscommunication as well as your frustration regarding the Palm Treo 800w. The retail store are correct in stating the device launches this Sunday, July 13th. If your friend purchased the Palm Treo 800w from a corporate retail store, the employee responsible for the sales transaction broke Sprint corporate policy and definitely needs to be disciplined for this flagrant violation. IMHO, the employee should sacked after HR is consulted regarding this event.

Dude, look around online - There's TONS OF PEOPLE that have one now! There are stores all over the freakin country selling them right now. Check the wireless forums on various sites, users are posting pictures of theirs, reviews etc...I have a few buddies that were able to buy one yesterday!
I'm moving 3 lines on everything plans over to Sprint, but I'll tell you what I DON'T CARE that this thing has not officially been released. If people all over the country are getting one, exceptions or not, and Sprint is going to just say "see, here it is, here's the box now go home for two days and come back" then as far as I'm concerned, screw sprint I'm going to the Apple store to get iPhones instead.

It dosent drop till the 13th period. If you want an iphone go ahead. Our 3g network is stronger and like 6x bigger. Plus the 800 is RevA which sheets all over the iphone. Dont be mad cuz you cant get what you want when you want it. The reps you spoke with apparently where misinformed and when they went to the back their manager probably corrected them. You probably do the same thing at McDs when breakfast switches to lunch.......I see the McGriddles but why cant I have one? Cuz its lunchtime. Stop setting yourself up for failure and just wait till the 13th. Count it down with me...its 1 day and a wake up bro...come on.

Yep. And their network may "sheet" all over everyone else's but their CS will "sheet" all over you as soon as you need them.
(PS) Their network is overrated and under delivers. They can talk specs and coverage but in the real world, you are on roaming all the time which mean your data services don't work. Everyone claims the best network. Sprint is no exception.

sdgmcdon, you talked about leaving Verizon and people warned you, now you may wish you didn't change. I left Verizon once and came running back because although Verizon isn't perfect, the carrier I was with sucked even more! And whoever said Sprint has a larger 3G network, read Verizon's latest news release, they now have the largest data network now haha!

If you were trying to buy it at a corporate owned store the system they use will not allow the phone to be sold before the release date. No if and or buts, and no override, you scan the phone and the computer says "Release date for this device is July 13th" period the end. The people who are getting away with buying them ahead of time are doing so at 3rd party retailers that are risking loosing their contracts with Sprint to do so.
