Sprint or Verizon?: I might just stay on America's most reliable network

californiabaseball11

Two weeks ago I went into a Sprint store to check out the Blackberry Curve 8330 and maybe switch from Verizon to Sprint. However, they had no curves in stock. The sales representative took my name and number and said she would call me when they received a new shipment. I still haven't heard from that representative and probably never will so I decided to call Sprint customer service. After going through layers of menus I finally got a live person in a foreign country (choppy English, etc sounded like India) and she didn't understand what I wanted. Finally, she got it and put me on hold to find out. Next thing I know I hear clicks and I am listening to "if you want to make a call please hang up and dial again", disconnected. So I call back ag...

Well maybe the guy hasnt called you back because they too havent received them in stock. Check online, not in stock either. So you cant blame the rep at the store. As of customer service, I understand where youre coming from. No, Sprint doesnt outsource. See, when you call Verizon or Sprint customer care, not ALL centers are a "Sprint" or "Verizon" call center. Some are contracted under Sprint and Verizon thru companies like Convergys, ACS, Telepferformance USA, and theres others. THEY outsource, not Sprint. Sprint is only under contract with them to receive calls from Customers!

When I call Verizon I get a Verizon rep not an outsourced employee or contracted one when you call Sprint you get India, Verizon doesn't have call centers in India get a clue. Furthermore, in reference to sprint call quality go look at consumer reports man they did an article on cell service providers Verizon ranked number one in all major markets except one and Sprint was dead last in all four. All four major carriers were included in the article T mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. So that is current info which is why Sprint hasn't changed in ten years. Once trash always trash.

Ok let me clarify some things. First, I'm not willing to pay Verizon $170 a month when I could pay $99 with Sprint. Im sick of getting nickled and dimed on Verizon. Hell and their customer service is sometimes non existent. I was in a store last week to look at the curve and maybe upgrade and wasn't even given the time of day and there was only one person in the store besides me. Second, why would I want to use google maps that relies on proximity to a tower when I could use real GPS for free on Sprint. Third, If I get Sprint I could get rid of my landline phone with AT&T, that costs me $40 a month with taxes and fees. That is just to have a home phone if I make a long distance call it costs 5 c

So why did you ask which one to choose again evidently you have a good understanding of who you would like for a cell phone company. Next time maybe you should keep your ideas to yourself. What you said about customer service may have been an article of the most current magazine, however, as a company we work towards a goal. We know that we aren't the best provider for customer service, but it is a goal and we strive to attain goals. I'm happy that you like Verizon but dont beat a dead horse leave it alone.

In any retail store you might get representatives who are clueless. In the one Verizon store I wrote about they are morons, but that is the exception rather than the rule. And when I have ever had to call customer service with a technical issues or concern they have gone out of the way to resolve my issue or problem. I'm sure you won't get that same level of customer service when you call Sprint. Maybe you should do a search on You Tube, watch some of the videos on customers dealing with Sprint's customer service then write us a review.

My experience with the Sprint version thought was that the data was not fast enough to power it's precious Sprint TV worth a darn. Plus, I had almost no reception in my server room where VZW and AT&T both work very well. So the decision to leave them was an easy one to make.

Of course Sprint decided to bill me for two months of service even though the phone was returned in a little over a week. Par for the course with them.

it sucks that sprint is getting so much ripping on, but why? those who are so defensive have to ask themselves why they get so upset about all the ripping on...is it because they know it's true?

Look ppl sprint has treated their customers like garbage for YEARS..now i know there are a lot of sprint employees on here who try hard and want to see sprint get better. But this is the way its going to be for a long time to come..the facts are Sprint as a hole has dropped the ball terribly, and the aftermath is not going away anytime soon.

everyone i ever talked to about sprint says " sprint sucks" how is that damage going to heal?

Thru time, dedication and commitment. I know theres people out there who work for Sprint just to collect a paycheck, and can give a rats a** what happens to the customers. But then again, theres ppl who really care for their customers. Who interact with them, give em advice and so forth. Im proud to say im happy to help out our customers, not just to collect a paycheck. I love my job, thats why I have and work for Sprint. I wouldnt change a thing. I work for Corp Retail and a Customer care 3rd party for Sprint. I know all fields in the ball park, ๐Ÿ˜‰

It's mostly people that heard through the grapevine that Sprint sucks never experienced for themselves. Most people are followers, they never take the iniative to be different. Another thing most people that says Sprint sucks are those people that treat their phones like their worse enemy( throwing it across the room, because they're mad at their other half. Seriously is that going to make the situation better?) then get upset because Sprint won't dish out a brand new phone.

You don't have any facts to back that statement up. Most of the complaints that I've seen in this forum are from current and former Sprint customers AND employees. Sprint's been around a long time so I'd venture to say...

Generalization is not "facts". You can't take a few random posting and say that most people that post negatives here aren't or have never been Sprint customers. You just don't have that data. Most of the people that post negs here seem to be current and former customers with an axe to grind.

I have seen the same posting of people who aren't customers who are concerned about what they are reading about Sprint. But much of the publicity comes from industry related publications. After reading that Sprint ranks at the bottom of the barrel in customer satisfaction and service, I believe I'd come here and solicit opinions from current users.

I've read many post here from satisfied Sprint customers stating that they don't have a problem wit...

Wow! Another courteous response! That's two in a row today! :-) Thanks for being nice to what most would consider a "troll" post. I am not really trying to be a troll, especially since I've had Sprint before and tried them again recently.

When I have said that Sprint has hurt itself by opening up lines and sometimes multiple lines to people with bad credit, it was never meant to imply that everyone with Sprint has bad credit. My only point was that they are hurting the...

Oh, and MizzSprint: if I have said anything hurtful to you in past post I sincerely apologize. I sometimes bite some of the fanboys here that like to make personal insults at me because they don't like my discussion of Sprint, what's wrong and what could be done to fix it. You are certainly one of the more mature posters here and I hope that more can follow your example of how mature and productive a good old fashion debate/discussion in a web forum can be.

Thanks again. :-)

Many of the marines that I help are pretty responsible at the ripe age of 18. I work on a military base and marines make up about 85% of my customer base. I also work in a store outside of the base, where I see a lot more irresponsible young adults making bad choices, letting there phone bills rise. On one side you can say what kills the company also makes it appealing, at least to most marines that dont have any credit. I agree and yet I disagree about the credit woes of our customers, I dont think that it is a solution to any of the problems. Unfortunately some of the young adults just don't have the necessary tools for life

The funny thing is as sprint does worse they start giving more things away to attract customers but at the same time they lose money by doing this and it blows up in their face. An example is the simply everything plan for 99. From a consumer standpoint this is an awsome plan I mean don't get me wrong everything for a 100 bucks, you can't go wrong. However from a business perspective....think about what these things cost singly...they are throwing money away trying to attract customers and in the end its going to bite em in the butt!!!

Now you know why Sprint sucks. It's employees like Sprint2008 who are helping run the company into the ground. People are fleeing Sprint it is like the Great Migration in American history when blacks left the South and moved to the North. Sprint is abysmal. I can see why he had nothing to do because Sprint truely does suck and he had no customers. Bonnie Cha from CNET, Laptop Magazine, and everyone else including consumer reports says that Verizon has better call quality then Sprint. And consumers time and time again report that customer service is pathetic. Making fun of potential customers is no way to improve your bottom line. It just reinforces the idea that Sprint Sucks!!!!!

If you read the messages Sprint2008 has no clue what outsourcing means either. He claimed that Sprint doesn't outsource call center jobs. That the company they contract with called TPUSA does. Ok Sprint2008 a little Economics lesson for you. If Sprint contracts to have someone else provide their call center jobs that is outsourcing.

From what i know of the Curve, that phone is on back order, due to such a high demand. It's like that in our store, we can't get them at all. In my personal life, i have verizon wireless and i've had it for about 7-8 months.. i can't wait for my contract to be over with my 3 other phones. My bill is a mess each and every month, and time and time again i have to call them back up and get that straightened out till the next month, the moto-Q on my account has already locked up 3 times had to have that replaced also they told me i could have picture mail and messaging added on that phone for 5.00 a month... well each month is comes out to be around an extra 15.00 - 20.00 because picture mail is not the same as a regular phone ( but if you talk ...

QChat is a gimmick. If people gave a crap about PTT then Nextel would have customers in droves. QChat is useful for some industries and companies. However, it's not enough business to turn Sprint/Nextel around and most people find it annoying.

It's bad enough having to listen to one side of someone else's phone conversation but it's totally unnecessary and annoying to have to hear both sides.

Instead of gimmicks, perhaps Sprint should focus on the basics of running a profitable company. If cut rate phone service isn't saving their butts, then I doubt if "walkie talkie" service is going to pull them out of the crap pit they are sinking into.
