Asurion will replace the device with standard equipment, not accessories. As far as doing an esn swap, call Sprint when or if you make your claim, and have them put a HUP code, for the New For You Upgrade Program. This will get you the full rebate in a corp. Sprint location. Last time I checked, the a920 was replaced with a m500 or m510. If your having trouble getting the HUP code, let me know. I'll see what I can do.

Sprint will not renew the contract if the esn you will swap to has already been used. If it hasn't been used at all it's considered a upgrade

wrong. it will not do anything to your upgrade eligibility, if the phone is new and never activated then it will be considered an upgrade and you will have a new agreement. but if it is used it doesn't affect your agreement in any way shape or form. Now if the agreement is changed with a phone that has been activated before then the rep just messed up your account

The only time you need to re-new your contract is if you're going through the upgrade program, or if Sprint offers you some kind of discount off your service or equipment.

That's correct. That is why a HUP code needs to be attached to the account. If a new esn, rec or pre esn is attached to the account,and the esn is outside of Sprint's ESRP exchange, iRMS and UBS will not track the outside esn. In order for a retail Lead, ASM, or SM to discretion a phone for the upgrade program, a HUP code must be attached for P2K accounts and a similar codes for UBS accounts must be attached to the account. It's an RLOF24 code for UBS I think. I do this on a daily basis for Sprint's customers. Ask your local auditor or check KMS or SNC for M&Ps.

Honestly i have had water damaged phones turn back on after having the battery takin out and all holes opened to dry for 2-3 days ... i ran into the ocean once with my phone forgetting it was in my pocket and 3 days later whammy it powered on (salt water is ten times more corrosive than reg water). Hope this helps out a little in your problems

Depending on levels of water damage and what the phone was doing when it got wet will determine what will happen to the phone. I have NEVER seen a phone get water damaged and act the same as they were before 100%. It might act good for a bit, but somewhere down the line something will finally go out and will need to be replaced.

For replacement, as of a week ago refurb a920s are instock and I have seen a variety of phones come in to replace it. If a refurb a920 is no longer available at replacement one of the following phone will be sent out;
Samsung M500
Samsung M510
LG Fusic
LG MUZIQ
Motorola RAZR V3M
Sanyo Katana II

I used to work for Sprint in a retail store and always felt like the customer was getting ripped off just for doing an ESN swap. The ONLY time ANY carrier has a right to restart a contract is with some kind of promo such as a subsidized device or airtime discount. Putting a used phone on a number or buying a phone at full retail SHOULD NEVER reset a contract date!

I dont think he was talking about the contract date but the rebate time period ??? If it is a customer owned handset the contract would NEVER be extended unless certain services would be added (but in almost all cases even then it would not be extended with a COH).

Do you work for Sprint? Unless something has changed with the system since June 2007 whenever we did an ESN swap with ANYTHINNG but an insurance claim customer care would ALWAYS go by what the system said......which was sorry wait 22 more months!! I hate Sprint! They rip off their customers as well as employees!! Look at all the bad press....need I say more!

It won't reset your upgrade eligibility, I just did an insurance claim on my phone 2 weeks ago and it still shows I'm eligible.

My brother has the a920 and called Asurion to see what his replacement option was and they said it was the Samsung 510.
