Sprint on Verizon/Network questions

I find the plans sprint offers the most attractive of the plans available from major carriers.

However, all the people I have ever known who have had Sprint hated it. Granted this was long ago

****My questions is:
As Sprint is CDMA and so is Verizon, do you get full access to Verizon's network without any fees?

I live sort of middle of nowhere upstate NY, so having access to both verizon and sprint towers would be good.

They have roaming deals in place, but some services might not be on each others. Example; Sprint has EV-DO and roaming deals with ALLTEL but they have none with Verizon. Some features will not be if you are roaming on Verizon’s 1xrtt. You can roam off their voice but I think also some features might not be to you.

Just wanted to point out, however, if you use a certain amount of minutes outside of Sprint’s network then they will cancel you. If you think you use more Verizon than Sprint, I think it is best if you switch to Verizon.

I have no idea who's network I would be on more often. I only really care about voice calls.

So you are saying I would have access to all of Verizon's voice network. That would be very good. There are places like the Washington DC metro (subway) that are only Verizon (I'm originally from there and visit quite a bit).

I did read that clause that they would cancel it if you roam too much, but I suspect that at home I would have a sprint tower based on the maps online

You would have access to their network but some features that you had on Sprint’s would not be on Verizon’s. Well, even at home sometimes, you could actually be roaming on other companies’ networks. It is not often but it does happen. Could be a tower issue and others that could be hindering the ability for the legacy network to supply coverage and signal to that device.

If you need Verizon just for voice, I just think you need to weigh your options a bit and see what is best for you. If you are having issues with the Sprint network and you are roaming on Verizon, it is best to go to the latter than stick with the former. I just think it makes sense to make such change.
