Service Issues in SC

Snuggles

Jun 15, 2007, 6:34 AM
Lately my Sprint M1 has been having trouble connecting to the internet, sending photos, and even sending text. Getting alot of service not available, losing sprint service area, and signal strength going from 5 to 1 to 0 bars. What's going on? Is it the M1 or Sprint overall here in South Carolina?

Most likely it's the phone. Take the phone into a Sprint corp repair store to have the phone checked.

But my brother's M1 does the same thing. Is it the M1 in general or Sprint in SC?

let me ask? Is it showing EVDO or RT? ANd if its EVDO were are you. Alltel is launching EVDO and they did in NC were I was and I had the same issues becuase the M1 will search for an EVDO signal and if sprint does not have one and alltel does you will get alltel EVDO!

Its not your phone its the service. All power vision phones are using Alltel's EVDO service since sprint has not lauch it in SC yet. Unfortunatly, you are getting alot of lag and just forget about sending picture mail. Mine are only going through 50% of the time. They have no plans to have evdo service of their own until some time 1st quater 08. 😕 🙄

All you have to do is get your Programing code and switch it to 1xrtt only and you will stay on sprints data and won't have the issues. That is what I did in NC and never had a problem!

not bad. Time difference sucks!! Oh and first hand Japan cell service is in my opinion no better if not worse then US. They video call is cool but the phones are not that great and the service is not great. And they don't have min in there calling plans. Yo upay for every 30 secs!

digitmasher and i were talkin about how cell phone calling plans would eventually be charged by the data transferred only and there would be no more "minute plans"

It will all be IP based sooner than later.

well they still charge by the half second here. If I don't call someone with the same company as mine between 200am and 900pm or a differant company anytime then it cost 45 yen ever half min. Thats about 30 cents. Also all incoming is free text email and voice. Also as with the US it depends were you are. Toyko 3g is fast real fast like 3meg a sec. But were I am stationed 3g is slow real slow like 100 to 200k.

As for the Internet access, you need to update the data services every once and a while. Settings/Power Vision/Update profile.

As for the coverage. Do you live in a small town that has grown very fast? If this is the case, then Sprint should be getting ready to build extra towers in their area;look on their web site.

your phone could also be to blame. Take it into a store so they can run tests on it. They can also tell you what the towers in your area are running at. If 1 of the towers is running at something like 70%, then there could be a problem with the tower.
Basically, there is so many reasons for having problems with service.

once the vision works on the phone, there is NO reason to "update profile".

the only info in that profile is what allows you to get online. if you can get online, then that info is correct.

Not true. The info found in the profile also has settings, not just user info. Sometimes this info be become corrupted for all kinds of reasons.
If you have high-speed access, and you get online, but your speeds keep remaining low, can't that be a problem with the settings? Yes. Any tech officer will tell you this. It is the easiest way to start. Why start from step 5 when it might be a problem with step 1? K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid.

Update your profile, then if it doesn't work, move to step 2.

Um, wow. WOW.

I was pretty sure I had made it clear that i know what the hell I am talking about.

While I agree that it is not a bad idea (only because it cant possibly hurt anything) updating profile does no such thing.

Yes, it could be a problem with settings, BUT there are no settings involved in that "profile". You have been poorly educated. Please do not cite any Sprint material for this, as the Sprint training material is full of crap.

Once again, the ONLY information in your "Vision Profile" is your username, vision password, and a few line items that cannot be changed if you want it to work at all. There is nothing there that would help speeds.

Please refrain from posting nonsensical babble.
