Need some answers from Sprint Reps...

Okay so I'm looking to buy a new phone in the near future, either by way of my upgrade or by way of Ebay. I just need some questions answered.

1)Other than the Upstage (which I like but the non-replaceable battery scares the hell outta me so it's a no) what phone would all of you recommend for somebody who's looking for an MP3/Bluetooth/Camera phone with a memory card slot, either current or discontinued?

2)I've been contemplating a PPC-6700 as a possibility, my question is why should I or should I NOT get it and if not what would you guys recommend for a viable option of the same type (camera/MP3/Bluetooth) smartphone other than the Treo (because I've heard nothing but bad things about them and I don't really like a phone that I'm gon...

I also forgot to put in that I currently have a Sanyo MM-8300 and love it but it's getting beat up and I definitely am looking for something new and better.

Seeing that you now have the Sanyo MM-8300 dustcloud9, I'd suggest moving up to it's big brother, the SCP-8400 since this CDMA handset meets all your requirements and I can honestly say should be around for a bit before it meets end of life. As far as the PPC-6700 is concerned, skip it. Wait for the PPC-6800 which should be launching in the very near future.

The 8400 is a great phone, but... It's alittle hard on the eyes. I sold my brother and sister-in-law 2 of these phones, and after playing with them a little bit, I've realized their not all they are cracked up to be.

I would say that a Samsung M-500 or LG Fusic would be a better choice. The M-500 comes in silver or red and is one of the sleekest phones by Sprint. I personally have the LG Fusic and find that the FM Transmitter is a great feature for any long car ride.

If you were considering a PPC-6700, I'd stay away from UT Starcom/Audiovox. They are big and bulky, and are known to have many quirks when connecting to computers, and sending e-mail. I've had a good experience with the Moto Q, it still has Windows OS which will be easy to...

I would go with a Sanyo phone. The M-1 is good, possibly an 8400. Both have the options you are lookin for.

I carry an M1...VERY good phone - well worth the price. Especially now, with the $100 MIR on it. Features are huge on this phone.

The 1GB of internal storage is nice - especially when the phone is paired up with a stereo bluetooth headset, like the S9 from Motorola, for instance.

2 MP Camera is good stuff too...located on the back of the phone - not on the flip itself.

Of course, Sanyo makes the best phones for the Sprint network. That's always a bullet point I mention when I sell them. ...because it tends to be true 99% of the time.

But yeah, best phone I've carried thus far. Definitely.

Until May 13th people, you can get a 1 GB microSD card free with the purchase of the Samsung M620/Upstage II and the $20 per month Power Vision Music Pack. With a new activation or a 2 year qualified upgrade and 2 year contract renewal, the Upstage II is $99.99 after a $50 mail in rebate.

I just wanted to say thanks to all you who gave me advice/answers on the situation.

I'm down to one of three choices at this point.

1)The M1 - The only drawback I see to this is that the 1 gig of internal memory is shared with the applications of the phone, so it's not truely 1 gig total for me to put files, etc. on.

2)The 8400 - I like the idea of a phone I'm not going to have to do much learning on and I think I could very easily find myself liking this phone even though it's just a marginal upgrade over what I have.

3)The Blackberry 8830 - Waiting for this would be an option but I'd lose the camera. Ideas anyone?

Okay so yeah, that's all well and good. Anybody else wanna volunteer an explanation?

And I think I stated (qualified) that looks are WAY low on the list of what I care about, but I'll be sure to state this again.

1)Service (does it get signal?)
2)Reliability/Durability (will I kill it within 5 months or does it have something like a non-replaceable battery that I need to know about?)
3)Tech stuff (MP3? Camera? Bluetooth?)
...
99)Looks (Is it the coolest looking phone ever?)

And as far as slapping myself because I suggested the Blackberry 8830, you care to explain what's so wrong with it that'll make me want to slap myself?

i know looks are on the bottom of your list. and honestly i have the 8400 and love it. but with all the new devices coming out this summer etc i suggested waiting. as far as slapping if not decapitating yourself for mentioning blackberry. its my personal preference and not to be taken personally. if you so choose to slap yourself forever, it is well deserved in my mind. 😳 . and as signal goes .the 8400 is great. the sd card feature is great the volume is great the internet and camera are great. its just fugly. w/o faceplate not to bad. decent covers are available. again everything i post unless its facts on crap is my own opinion, which would be why when asked for people opinions on devices. you received them.

No problem. I probably shouldn't have snapped back like that, so I apologize as well.

I'm still looking for opinions and information though so any you can give on any of the upcoming stuff would still help. I read somebody's upcoming release thread and now I'm thinking I'm gonna wait because nothing that's out now sounds good to me while the PPC-6800 and the Katana DLX do sound interesting.

I'm also kinda loyal to the Sanyo brand because I've had Nokia's and Motorola's and heard nothing but bad about Audiovox (the PPC-6800 maker) and I'm kinda skeptical on LG's because a couple of my friends have them and can't make calls at my house. (I live in a weird area in the boonies in Ohio where it seems like only Sanyo's work well with signal ...

if u are even remotely thinking about a phone like the 6700 then get a treo. MUCH better phone with way less problems. You should narrow your options down to the M-1, Fusic, and 700P or 755. As far as what you've heard about the treo, its incorrect. The learning curve on a windows device is aweful, on top of the fact they are the most unreliabe phones ever made. Anyway take it from a person who knows, stay far far away from any windows device. BB's arent bad but if your company isnt paying for it then your wasting your money. it has less features and is $40 a month.

I am a technician for sprint, and my suggestion is to go with sanyo 100% of all the times i been in retail and service, sanyo phones has held up to its name and is very durable and worth the money. And to be honest, ill get about 1 out of 10 sanyos that has a defect to it, Sanyos are really reliable service wise(signal) and built. Sanyos are really good quality and i only and highly recommend it. I get a lot of LG's especially the fusic and samsungs that have problems like bugs or other hardware defects. Yes, LG and samsung makes stylish phones, but quality wise i would stay away from it. If you like a PDA phone, I recommend treo 700p, these phones have been really good and i havent seen a complaint yet.. however i did have some that come b...

I concur. I have seldom seen any of those "issues" that were listed. The RAZR did have a lot of problems but the firmware update addressed pretty much all of them.
