Sanyo 7050

Just recieved the 7050s. Not bad but fairly basic. It will appeal to a lot of people who want a tough phone without a lot of bells and whistles (but does have bluetooth!)

The best part is when you turn it on it says "Sprint: Power Up," not all that amazing but then when you turn it off it says "Sprint: Powere Down!!!" At least I thought it was amusing. ๐Ÿคฃ

๐Ÿคฃ Does it claim to be Mill spec? Any other details worth mentioning?

Is the antenna super long? Thanks

Says right on the box it meets Military Specifications 810f for shock dust and vibration. The antennae is normal Sanyo size. Seems like a pretty tough phone. Nice screen too. And the speaker seems even bigger than most Sanyos but I dont know if it actually is or it just looks that way.

Ok cool thanks!

for those interested the link below provides pics and some other interesting info regarding the GPS

Also, regarding the GPS. This phone uses the Qualcomm MSM-2165 (if I remember correctly) which has autonomous GPS capability (just like a commercial GPS). The great thing about it is that you will be able to use this phone as a Stand-alone GPS unit connected via Bluetooth/USB to you NMEA compatible GPS apps, EVEN in off-network areas. HOW COOL IS THAT??

Now, a stand-alone BT GPS cost more than $100. So, at $150, it is worth it.

Don't ask me where I got the info.

The SCP-7050 offers autonomous GPS that allows location data to be captured even when the user has taken the phone off the wireless network. In addition, Java MVM allows the phone to run multiple Java applications simultaneously. The combination of Java MVM and location based GPS allows the phone to support advanced navigation, tracking and management applications. Applications such as Comet Tracker(TM) by ActSoft, Gearworks etrace(R), TeleNav Track(TM), and Xora GPS TimeTrack provide GPS tracking, job dispatching, location-intelligent timecards, configurable forms, geofencing, and more.
