They're total bastards.
That being said: I like Tmo cuz they're the only other real GSM service out there, and they have good phones. And catherine zeta jones.
Anyway. I'm guessing that this forum is frequented by Tmo experts, so I'm going to tell you want I have with AT&T now, and hopefully you can tell me what plans I should go with with Tmo.
Hardware:
Sony-Ericsson T637, teathered bluetooth-style to a Palm Tungsten T
Voice plan:
750 anytime + 750 anytime, free LD, no roaming, no weekend/holidays/evenings, $59.99
Data plan:
Unlimited phone/teather data, $29.99
That's what I've got. I used my palm ALOT for email and so forth while I'm on the road, and I love my 1500 anytime minutes.
Does Tmo offer anything similar? I...

So give us more info...
How many of your 1500 minutes do you actually use. All of it? Do you go over?
Data - Do you know how many KB you use each month or is that not tracked for you. Do you want/need unlimited or will a smaller amount work.
...
Well that depends. On months I travel, I've been known to go over on voice, and use 15-25MB data, but then when I don't, I'll use 500 minutes and 2MB data.
Not much help, I know. That's why I opted for the biggest they had.
...
Well, I am sure T-Mobile wil lhave some options for you but I would also say you might want to reconsider Cingular.
You could get a $59.99 plan with 850 minutes (plus unlimited N&W and MTM) and the stuff you don't use could be saved for the months you travel. The next plan up is $69.99 for 1100 minutes.
You could also get the Media Works package that has unlimited data for $19.99 a month. I had set up several customers with that plan and it worked fine for them doing as you are.
You wouldn't pay more than you do now, or might even save $10. I am sure the 1500 minutes is nice but you don't use it except on occasions.
If you really want T-Mobile I am sure they have something for you, but this way you would not need to switch out...

1500 mins day unl nights/weekends with Tmo is 79 a month..then the unlimited data transfer is 19.99 to teather to a laptop or pda.
So the tmobile plan wold be 99.98 /month + taxes
If I remember correctly that would be 10 bucks more a month, but Tmo is a one year contract, with way cooler phones. They also let you upgrade every 11 months. If you did a 2 year contract with Cingular you would have to wait until your 18 month before you qualify for a full upgrade price on a handset. NOT TO MENTION CINGUALR WILL CHARGE YOU A 18.00 UPGRADE FEE , WHEN YOU UPGRADE,NO MATTER WHAT....TMOBILE WONT.
...
T-Mobile does charge a $35 activation fee though, right?
...
If you goto www.tmobile.com/mcdonalds and get new service through that website then you will not have an actiation fee, PLUS YOU WILL GET AN ADDITIONAL 40.00 OFF ANY PHONE FROM THE TMOBILE.COM WEBSITE PRICING!
ENJOY

Why is McDonalds on the special T-Mobile website?

I would rather pay $35 then sighn a two year agreement on phones that are covered by a one year warranty.
...
the get a group discount.... what's best is even if you are a part timer you can take advantage of that website
...
I do work part time, but I already have service with T-Mobile. I am thinking about the V635, but I have mixed review. T-mobile doesn't have a phone that I like at this moment.
...
Okay . . . I still don't get what exactly the McDonalds site is. I've looked through it all and apparently it is for employees or franchise owners, but apparently you can sign up through even if you aren't one. I also found another 'premier site' at www.tmobile.com/starbucks. This one is apparently just for Starbuck employees. Are there more of these sites? I tried randomly typing in business names after tmobile.com, but the only other one I could find was the starbucks one (btw - check out the price on the Samsung d415 for Starbucks employees?) Does anyone have any more info on these sites? I'm really curious.

Not quite accurate on the upgrade issue. With this guy's monthly recurring service level he would qualify for a discounted handset every 12 months.
And I think his point was that he enjoys the setup he uses now.
...
yes..that is what I ment. It's the first day of his 12th month he can upgrae with tmobile
...
wow T_mobile ahs better phones than cingular that is news to me and I work for cingular. What better phones does T-mobile have. And will T-mobile give a customers website pricing for upgrades cingular will.

T-Mobile has same as new customer pricing. And no UPGRADE fee. 😛
...
And no coverage and no high speed data network and no high speed data. No ARPU and no money to go 3G.

We have coverage, and roaming agreements, and as far as high speed data, we have things in the works. EDGE isn't the only way to have high speed data. 😛
...
EDGE is just the begining. I like T-mobile but I think they are goign to have a hard time attracting those high ARPU business customers. With a small GSM coverage area and no high speed data and no capital to buy enough spectrum to be a major player. But hopefully we are able to do PTT between Cingular and T-Mobile that would be cool.

As far as plans go:
For 59.99 you can get 1000 whenever, unlim nts/wks, incl roaming and ld. As far as internet, 19.99 will give you unlim internet and e-mail.

Perfect, I just saw that. I'm liking Tmo already. What's their customer service like? How flexible are they on billing? What about the credit check to sign up? I just bought a car AND moved, sooooo yah.
...
We are rated #1 in Customer Service by JD Power & Associates. 😉 As for being flexible on the billing, I'm not sure what you mean by that. As for the credit check, that's hard to say for sure. Buying a car can definitely bring your credit down, but not so much that you have a problem. If it does cause credit problems you MAY end up on a spending limit ($150) but as long as you don't get your line suspended for non-service, you can get that limit removed after a year.
...
what percentage rate did you get on your car and is it new or used. That will give me a good idea on what your credit will be like....
...
not good. heh. 19.2% 😲
...
Well, buying a car on credit will not put you into a deposit if your credit was good enough beforehand. A 19.2 % rate on a car pretty much indicates your credit is below average (unless you are 18 and are just establishing credit).
Probably will have a deposit no matter where you go.
As I have stated on other threads, nationwide coverage means nothing if it doesn't work for you where you need it. Just because T-Mobile isn't as good overall doesn't mean they won't do just fine where you live and work.
...
not necessarly... I have had customers that have filled bankruptcy 3 times and still get approved for an L class (2 lines). It's all about what credit agency the creditor reported to and which one tmobile checks. I wouldn't say you are automatically a deposit. Also you never know you could of gotten ripped off by the finace person at the delarship. I was hopig you financed through a bank.
