No More: "No Cool Phones" Posts, Please!
Geeez! People, it's 2009, and most phones these days can do things a PC couldn't do twenty years ago. What are you really needing in a phone anyway?
I think the REAL problem is that most people want phones tailor made to suit their own likings. Well guess what? The phone features you want may not be what someone else wants, and the dilemma that phone manufacturers and wireless companies face is combining things together in a way that will appeal to the broadest possible audience.
Maybe someday phones can be custom ordered like cars and furniture. You would be able to select the color, style and features you want, and delete...

Although, I might add as well the Nokia N Series example (and if other manufacturers have similar lines) where they produce mainstream phones for the masses (available at the coveted subsidized, sometimes "free", price) and then make very high performance and feature-packed phones (the N models) available unlocked, bypassing the network carriers. The whiners just want to get cheap/free phones, hence why the carriers won't provide "nice/cool" phones (eg, it would be stupid to offer a $700 N96 or forthcoming N97 for free, or nearly so).
